Thebestfan, didn't you read the title of this thread? Its called stop the hating, so stop! You are probably right, if I went to realGM.com and asked what I could get for Mo T or KT I would probably get laughed off you know why? Fans of other teams usually only know big name players on other people's teams (with the exception of the knowledgable fans here on cc.net. ). Add that to the fact that most fans of any team are biased for their own players (except for cc.net Rocket fans of course ) and laughed at is what you get. For Example a Knick fan would probably tell me that Othella Harrington is better than KT or Laker & Celtic fans might tell me that Samaki Walker & Vin Baker are far better than Mo T . Its all subjective and each fan is protective of their own. That being said, I LIKE Mo, KT, and all of the Rockets (except Collier ) ... Aww hell, I'm down w/ Collier too. The Rockets are my team and I'm gonna ride with them to the end.
Big fat Mo is overpaid, so it Cato. Someone needs to hand Kenny some that money. KT was the one busting his ass all last year. Cato did a little of that, but still isn't worth what he's gettin. to: kenny thomas IOU half of what Fat Mo makes. Signed, Rudy
I remember that someone said Eddie was going to bolt if there was still a log jam at the 4, but then it turned out that the post was a spoof on Troy Barros posts. Did it turn out that Eddie really did say that? Does anyone have a link?
If KT was 3-4 inches taller, he would be an all-star, but with his height and size , he is a tweener. Thats just the way it is. KT thinks he should be a starter and is a blackhole when given the ball. His passing ability leave much to be desired and his shooting & free throw % is below average. If he has to come off the bench he gets an attitude. If it weren't for MoT's injury he would have come off the bench last anyway. MoT , on the other hand, is a team player. He plays wherever he is told and does what he has to. He flat out loves being a Houston Rocket. He turned big contracts , not once but twice to stay here. He has taken EG under his wing and is out to make him better. MoT worked his butt off to get back in shape for this season and by all accounts, is lighting up KT in practice. MoT is better suited physically to play PF in the western conference. I like KT but he is just not suited for our team.
I thought this was a great, civilized forum until I read this thread. Show some respect when you deal with others' opinions. The best response to a ridiculously ignorant post is to ignore it, not to flame it.
The arguments of KT vs MoT has gone on long enough. The assumption is that once Eddie establishes as the man at PF one of them has got to go. This assumption is probably correct. Apart from emotional attachment to any of the two guys, realistically, Mo should be the one out simply because he is paid to be a starter. You don't want a guy making that much money sitting on the bench. Thomas is paid to be a backup, at least at this stage of his development. The Rox should free up Mo's money to improve the team's other areas.
"Stop Hating" threads suck! How many do we get a year? Too many! No one hates anybody; comparing, evaluating, and accessing players is just part of being a sports fan, it is all in fun. We all have our favorites, we all don't like something that a player does (Moochie dribbles too much), and many times those observations are right on target (hearing Rudy scream," stop dribbling and pass the d**** ball!.) I LOVE the Rockets, how is that!?
I find it ironic that people like KT for his hustle, heart, and work ethic, and his downside is his lack of talent and upside. When Kenny was drafted, the report on him from college was the exact opposite! People said that he was "lazy" and injury prone, but had plenty of talent. It just goes to show that you never really know what kind of player you get from the draft (even from a senior). Having too many forwards or players competing for playing time is a luxury the Rockets would love to have. Its called having a deep bench, an attribute the Rocs do not have right now. I can't think of a player we have that would play more than he does now on a quality team.
MoT didn't turn down jack because no one wanted him the yr before he signed with the Rockets nor did they want him when he was a free agent before last season. Thomas is in a bad situation and you kind of feel bad for him. Taylor got the money for nothing, Griffin is drafted and as of right now Thomas is the best 4 we have. Make no mistake about it or around it that Griffin is the future 4 and thomas/taylor will be 2nd fiddle to him. Thomas is a team player but people must realize his window for getting good nba money is very limited unlike other players but similar to malik rose and those types. If he starts the season and in playing 15-20 mins, he will b**** just like any other player in their right mind. If you were in pretty much the last yr of your contract, would you rather play 35 mins or 20? The best case scenerio is we find a suitor for Taylor, which i highly doubt. What will probably happen is Thomas will be traded for a player's expiring contract or draft choice where he can get gametime. If the Rockets don't trade before the season, his trade value will be lower than Marc Jacksons.
Easy, this is indeed a "great, civilized forum" that is frequently the target of a "ridiculously ignorant post". Now, more than ever. (no, that may be an exaggeration. ) If you expect a certain kind of response, especially this time of year, well... never assume.
