Good point. According to most on cf.net the refs always favor the big market teams and superstars. Houston is a bigger market than Portland and Houston has more superstars. Why would the NBA/Refs favor Portland?
Lol, he changed his sig from king games to something about Les and the Rockets. Can we kick this troll out of the GARM please? He is trolling.
We need to quit blaming the refs and take responsibility. At least it's better to lose these games now and learn from them so we don't make the same mistakes in the playoffs..
Mike D'Antoni has been the wrong choice for this team. All the success they've had is due to Harden but he's still a choker at the end of the day.. Still harsh times for Rockets fans
Toronto shot 42 free throws. We shot 41 free throws. Harden alone shot 19 free throws; more than anyone on Toronto. Toronto had 13 turnovers. We had 19 turnovers. Eric Gordon shot 0-7 3FG. It wasn't the refs. It was us. Take responsibility.
Who isn’t taking responsibility and solely blaming the refs for the L? FOH. the refs didn’t cause us to lose this game, what they did do is make the game unwatchable by calling a foul every 5 seconds...this was the hardest game to watch all season the Rockets just didn’t have it last night, it happens...barely anyone is even trippin over this loss
A little ironic to use turnovers as a datapoint here when horribly stupid offensive foul calls can count as turnovers.
Sadly I'm in class right now and can't look it up. But not all turnovers are equal, IMO. Timing matters, especially fourth quarter. I agree that we shouldn't be blaming the refs for a loss. But we can definitely blame them for one type of bad call that's being repeated. IMO we lost last night because of tons of lazy plays, or tiredness. But reffing killed whatever chance we had left.
Idk what’s his name but that red that threw out tucker was calling everything on the raptors and calling all our touch fouls. He also swallowed his whistle from the start. Harden and Erick did get foul on those first three point attempts. Called harden for an offensive foul when he didn’t lower his shoulder n the defender wasn’t set. Also the other refs called def foul. All day same refs had it in with us. That offensive fouled on harden changed the momentum. Then they called another one on Erick. Same ref called the foul on luc against Lowry. He didn’t even touch him. I don’t blame the refs but they did influence specially that one ref.
Well we lost because of many things, some of what you said. A bad ref call doesn't always = 2 or 3 points in a game. It could mean a lot more. It can kill momentum completely. A well timed bad call can swing the game by a lot.
Completely agreed, which is why I'll never just give the refs a free pass. In any discussion between sports fans about referees, people always assume that is has to be "refs caused the loss" or "you can't blame the refs". Per usual it's always somewhere in between. And if they're calling consistent fouls on one guy for one thing, and not calling it for another guy, there's a problem there.
Stop quoting the box score and watch the games. Refs in the NBA are notorious for calling things the other way once the game’s been decided just to even things out by the game’s end. But occasionally when they’ve received an edict from the Book of David Stern, they will officiate the game in a manner that completely throws one team off its game and gives all the momentum to the other team in those pivotal moments early. Like it or not, but when you’ve been officiated out of a game by halftime, it’s hard to mentally hit refresh and pretend as if things will regress to the mean in the second half. This is the same thing that happened to the 90’s Rockets going to Utah where they “let the boys play” up there. Funny how it never worked like that outside of Salt Lake. I don’t b**** much, but that first half smacked of league manipulation. It happens a few times a year in the NBA. Schedule loss. Move on.
I see the refs as cops, sometimes they enforce the rules sometimes they don't. Unfortunately for us they were calling some light contact as fouls which made the 2nd and 3rd quarter almost unbearable to watch. Trust me I was at the game, everyone around us was confirming the same feeling. If you're going to call fouls like that, CALL THEM EVERY GAME. Don't pick and choose when you want to call a foul. I especially hate when a ref waits to see if the player makes the shot before calling the foul. Call the foul and then see if the shot goes in, that way its CONSISTENT. Honestly we were also outplayed, we took a lot of 3's and outside of Harden and Ariza, the supporting cast had subpar performances. We really need Paul back to complete our team's growth toward our fullest potential.
It’s like clockwork. Rockets lose, fans blame officiating. It’s the same with every team, really. The psychology that goes into it is understandable. In every game, there are questionable calls that can go either way, and a few that are just blown calls. That’s the nature of this sport. So when a team loses in embarrassing fashion, fans will look for those calls as the reasons for the loss. Every one is seen as “evidence” for a foolish conspiracy theory that there is an edict from the league to make the Rockets — the team with the most marketable star on the floor, mind you — lose the game. Good teams take care of business and don’t need favorable whistles. The Rockets have not been a good home team this year, for whatever reason.
