I don't think you can assume that they were trying to pickpocket you. Two pretty gay looking dudes walking around, one without a shirt. Maybe they were trying to grab your weiner? Perhaps they couldn't resist the sexy american? In which case your lucky you made it out before you were pulled into an alley.
I'm not American, and this picture was taken later - they tried to pickpocket me earlier, one of them almost having his hand in my pocket sneaking up from behind and backing off when I made a threatening gesture is what happened.
I was at Wal-mart the other day returning a rather expensive item and this little kid (4-7?) tried to take it from my hands. I just laughed and then he started to try harder to get it from me and I just stared at him. His mother was standing like 5 feet away and didn't say a word.
"Ojo!" was telling you "Look out, you dumb mother effer! Be smarter around yourself!" ... or... maybe "ojo" means something else in Montevideo than it does in my Mexico.

No, I just wanted to snap a picture of them because of the rockHEAD rule...could not have posted this story without a pic . I just didn't really feel threatened by them.
