Didn't you say the same thing about Will Weaver? And we can't find you in any of Harden threads, where have you been?
Harden who's never missed a playoff in his entire NBA career does not need me to stick up for him. Besides I'm a Rockets fan first and there are more important things for the real Rockets fans to focus on right now. But of course you'd know or care nothing about that.
LOL Whenever Harden is mentioned you go into fellatory mode amirite? You can't help yourself, it's a sickness.
But you have to have the guys to play defense in the first place. Rox didn’t have much of that this year
These fans are funny. They advocate defense yet love Sengun. Meanwhile they greatly undervalue and demonize Tate. They get frustrated because we didn’t trade Gordon and undervalue veteran presence. Fact is the personnel isn’t there and its a mess. We are at a crossroads. Three cheap projects in wood sengun and Kpj all 3 have been inconsistent with lapses both defensively and offensively and likely given at least before trade deadline to be evaluated again. Green and couple good rotation guys, inconsistent matthews and more unknowns in garuba and nix. Really murky but things will probably have more clarity before the deadline. I would assume KPJ and Wood gone if their play doesn’t drastically improve. But we shall see.
I think it's part players, and part front office. Front office got too greedy during the last few trade deadlines. Not enough 3/D guys (much less two-way players). Most of the players on this year's roster were one-way guys; further, they were bad/inconsistent one-way guys.
Tate included. People have learned how to exploit his lack of length. He has become an absolute foul machine, much worse than Sengun.
Do you find it interesting that Dallas didnt take off until they got rid of the "two way unicorn" in Kristaps and surrounded Luka with competent scoring and passing? Dallas plays great team defense without much rim protection, but they absolutely kill you on offense with so many guys able to go get buckets and create like Brunson, Dinwiddie, Bullock. Their "rim protectors" in Powell and Kleber barely getting run in the playoffs. IMO solid FUNDAMENTAL team defense >>>>>> rim protection.
I agree, it starts with FO. And players need to be also accountable for their play. And coaches as well.
Porzingas is far from a 2 way unicorn. He was never switchable. Even before his injuries. More importantly, Luka and the Mavs were weaponized by adding more 3-D players and emphasizing defense first system. These 3-D players can also playmake but do not dominate the ball. Imagine how much more dominant they could be defensively with better rim protection without sacrificing perimeter defense, high IQ, high effort and 3P spacing. I think you're making my point for me. Rim protection is not the evil you're making it out to be.
How do you explain how good Dallas' team defense is without a legit "rim protector" and with the #1 option being a suspect defender himself?
If KPJ’s play drastically improved from the way he played the last 10 games, he would be the league MVP. The hate for this 21 year old kid is really strange to me.
Luka is surrounded by 4 players that can shoot 3ball and switch. You said it yourself. And if Luka had another suspect defender playing next to him, it wouldn't work. Cannot hide 2 low effort defenders.
