What does that have anything to do with your statement about luck? You can make good trades and still be lucky. Half a season of Jarett Allen is not a good trade, he is an expiring there is no diff between him and Olynk.
it is all luck. Who is to say if we won 4 more games and had a better record than detroit we wouldnt get the number 1 pick instead
Stone is right. Sengun and Olynyk have overlapping skillsets and positions. We are in a rebuild and will likely be giving Sengun those minutes. We needed a big man who could compete defensively against the likes of Jokic, Embiid, and Ayton. Last year, Wood showed he could not do it. Neither could Olynyk. Cousins held up in short stretches, but that was it. Theis stands a much better chance, given his size and strength, of being serviceable against such players than Olynyk. In short, Theis fills a void, Olynyk did not.
Theis was making 4.6, 5m, last couple years. This new contract almost double his pay. Doubt his production will double. Olynyk was already 10m player before Rockets, 12m is a slight bump. This makes Theis only a few mil cheaper than Olynyk, Theis' a nice defensive body but last year around 34.7% (BOS) then 28% (MIA) 3pt shooter. Not much of a spacer as some may think. People may start doubling Wood again, unless Silas play Theis as a backup, which makes him a pricey backup. Even when Kelly had 3pt slump, still ended a 39% (3pt) for the year in HOU. It's not a terrible deal, a wash or slightly below middle, but definitely not a steal.
Yes so we could have been better or we could have been worse. But what we have now is Green right? So compared to talking about what ifs getting Green and KPJ who is here now on the roster in reality is a much better outcome. Changing that outcome for freaking Jarett Allen is not worth it.
We could have signed Jarett Allen if we really wanted him IDK how you cant understand that. You understand how free agency works? Signing Allen over Theis is different from getting Allen for half a season when his deal is expiring you understand that yes or no? We got Olynk for half a season and still let him go for Theis. Just cuz you got Allen in a trade doesnt mean you automatically keep him. It is a separate decision altogether you keep saying other people dont gst but clearly you are the one who doesnt get it.
Yea we didnt sign him because the team we traded him to obviously did Instead we have daniel theis, a much older and worse player that doesnt fit our timeline
I dont think even tilman is dumb enough to think a player we just traded is going to want to sign with us in 3 months
How does Allen fit our timeline? We didnt get Sargun and Garuba to be backups to Allen and Wood. If we wanted to sign Allen now we coupldve done so by offering him the most money.
I dont think you realize most FAs go to the one that oays them the most money. Thats how free agency works.
Yeah when the 30 yr old is making 8M and the 23 year old is making 20M give me the 30 yr old. Lol you wanna pay Capela 20M a year? Capela is a star version of Allen smh.
