I have called you "goofy" thats about it. But if you find that offensive, I wont anymore.

Its not semantics though. He didnt MAKE A DEAL for C Woods to come here. He traded Covington for picks and than gave up measly assets for Woods to sign and trade here which would only happen if Wood(wanted to come here) and if Detroit didnt want to keep him. Thats exactly what it is, we traded Covington and gave fillers for Wood who wanted to be here. And its not bad, its good, but its not amazing, its fine.

Sure. But I dont think it will be better value than what Westbrook could go for later. I didnt say Covington was better than Woods. Covington is a great player who anyone could get assets for, that's what Im trying to tell you. Yes, Westbrook being better and less injury prone absolutely means he is easier to move. Sure, it will be tough because of contracts. But Westbrook will get you more than Wall will. I think Westbrook will eventually be moved.

They wanted Westbrook here to KEEP Beal. That's why they traded Wall. If Beal leaves, they will have an easier time moving Westbrook than we will moving Wall. He's the healthier, better player and eventually his contract will be looked at more favorable than Wall's.

I mean, normally it woulndt be, but you have to ask yourself WHY. Im saying why would Cleveland give him away for that much if there wasn't somthing serious about his situation. Im just saying there is chance there that his situation gets out of control. Its something thats very hard and risky. Its not some amazing trade.

I dont understand what about any of these moves makes Stone this great gm. A lot of his moves are just risky gambles.

It all comes back to the russ trade and neither had a hand in that. They were both ****ed from the start.

If he doesnt make some trade you lose oladip po anyway with free agency and you certainly get nothing. If their was a mistake they should have traded him earlier. But they had to trade him

Were we tanking when we gave a first for Schumpert? Were we tanking when we gave a first along with Capela away? Were we tanking when we embarrassed ourselves with smallball? Were we tanking when we gave CP3 and our future away for Westbrick?
At some point, people who say they are not photogenic need to look in the mirror and realize there may be more to it and stop making excuses. I defended Tillman at first thinking he needed some time and buying his BS....but now I see his game very clearly. Always talk a big game and appear you almost had a great deal done, but it fell through at the last second or some team screwed us from the other side. He’s a casino owner and lives off selling the illusion that the Rockets are always right on the edge of turning things around. That’s what keeps us stupid fans coming back for more and more pain.

Tank guys happy now? Basketball is not lego. You need culture to be successful. You have a layman GM like an average to slightly advanced fan here. Dumbazz teams never get out of funk no matter how many picks they have.

the value of Stone and Silas is all dependent upon your perspective...

From the perspective of the guy writing the checks - they're doin just fine...

Stone has done a decent job so far for a rookie GM.

He took a big L today, but I would say I would rather see this deadline the way it turned out than to see another Westbrook-type trade that hurts us for years and years. We can't even properly rebuild correctly because of the Westbrook trade.

Stone came to this organization with Mike, Morey, Harden, Westbrook all wanting to leave. Is that Stone's fault? Point the finger at Tillman if you want to, but Stone was handed a pretty horrible hand. Even something like "One of the greatest scorers of all time" isn't as good as it sounds considering Harden had a no-trade clause and a small list of teams willing to trade for him (teams with "meh" rebuild assets).

I'd give Stone about a C or B- so far. His maneuvering to land Wood has been his A game and his Victor deal has been a D- (KMJ, KPJ, Tate B+ at worst!). I would give him an F today if the trade actually hurt us. "Better than nothing" doesn't hurt us, but isn't a good way to operate an NBA franchise.

Also, I think our fanbase is fairly divided as to full tank (multi-year) or not. I would do a poll, but I don't think it's "deserves it's own thread" material

You know what you will get once you step into Cicis, its the same for the Rockets, once they traded away Harden and Westbrook, you need to realize you are not sitting at Vic & Anthony anymore, so even Levert and Allen are just some salad and garlic bread, that's probably the best you can get in that situation.

We need Embiid here so we can’t get some faith in trusting the process...

Considering we are taking, Stone and Silas have been great hires. My guess is that we are going to clean house once we tank a few years to accumulate enough talent that players and coaches want to come here again. Of course there is always wildcard Tilman. Maybe he will become a better owner? Maybe COVID will finally get him to sell?
