Peja to who? I can't believe it, although there are $60MM reasons why, but they'll never be successful...Getting paid to be miserable for 5 years...

Now they have Peja/Snyder/Mason/JR Smith/Butler to share the 2 and 3 spot.

It means JR Smith is on the way out.

    Or they wont resign Butler.

Rockets should do something to get one from Hornets.

TE(1.7M)+future 1st round pick for JR Smith

or TE(4.2M)+future 2nd round pick for Rasual Butler(S&T)

Radmanovic for the MLE? Hell, we could do that.

If only Toronto would sign-and-trade MJames to us for Magic Lamp and Luther and we use the 4.2 TE from the Moochie deal...

I hate seeing Radmanovic going to the Lakers for the MLE! He was at the top of my free agent wish list. I thought he was exactly the sweet shooting PF we need that JVG keeps talking about. I guess it's Battier. Battier is a better player, but I'm just not so convinced he's a power forward.

I'm shocked and surprized that Peja got that much from OKC/N.O. it can play to the advantage of the Rockets. J.R. wouldnt be needed, if the "brain"trust can manage not to mess this up, I really hope that the rockets pull something off because i think that J.R. Smith would fit in PERFECTLY next to T-Mac and Yao it would even make me feel a little more comfortable with the Battier incident. Radmanovic was a crazy situation they swarmed him wit calls and he got star struck. Looks like the Lakers aren't feeling too happy about Shaq getting another ring while they watched.

I'm not sure what i think of this trade, Vlad is a multi dimensional Cook, he can put the ball on the floor and his defense is much better than Cook's. It's going to be nice seeing him punish the teams who kept on doubling kobe.

This means that Cook is out i guess, we got a better version of him.

do you really think a player that didnt work hard enough to play with byron scott will play with jvg ?? i doubt it ... and i dont want to trade draft picks ... but dont get me wrong, il like JR Smith (btw i'd prefer josh smith, but i dont think the hawks would agree to trade him if they loose harrington)

Yeah, Peja was a real monster for Indiana, maybe the Rockets should just forfeit the season and get ready for the 2007-2008 season. Lets let the offseason play out before people start panicking. Trades can still be made.

I would do the Trade Exception for JR Smith but tossing in a future 1st rounder is too much especially with how strong the draft next year is speculated to be. And with highschoolers having to go to college for a year at least the league will be come that much better.

Shocked that Peja went to the Hornets. No way is he worth that max amount he got. Great shooter, yes, but what else? The Pacers kind of low balled him and now he is gone. They have nothing to show for the Artest trade. Now they are trying to do a S&T to get Al Harrington back. We'll see. Huge "asset" loss for the Pacers. Peja will be a good fit in New Orleans, but as a Rockets fan, I am not overly worried.

Radmanovic going for the MLE? I am surprised. He turned down MUCH more when he was in Seattle (48M?). So this is surprising. I think the Divac/Lakers connection is the key with Vlad signing for the MLE in LA. I dont think any other team would have been able to throw the MLE at Vlad and get it done. Special circumstance.

Great deal for the Lakers though. Good value for their MLE. Lakers continue the trend of the downsizing of the F positions with Odom/Radmanovic as their starting forwards and Kwame at C.

    Rocks,
I think this and other threads present on our boards are more representatitve of the general disenchantment with Rockets ownership and management, than it is a sign they are starting to panic. They, well we, just don't believe in JVG's, Dawson's, Morey's and even Les Alexander's ability to get this team righted. :(

It's good and all to discuss the cap implications of this for other teams, but the bigger implications are to the Rockets.

Yes, Peja is probably getting overpaid. And yes, his all-around game is lacking. BUT, the Hornets almost made the playoffs last year. With a rookie point guard controlling the game and only the first year after a multi-year period of crappiness. However much he is getting paid, Peja, plus their 2 first round picks, plus Chris Paul year 2, etc. will make them playoff potential good, and that hurts the Rockets.

My thoughts: No trades this offseason involving future first round picks. Management truly doesn't know if T-Mac's back will hold up. If it doesn't, lotter again, but a better draft next year. Second, Rockets need at least 2 solid additions this offseason. Mike James would be one. Preferably a PF at the other, but Bonzi or someone else like that (not Fred Jones or Speedy Claxton...good players I'd be happy getting, but not potential starters, and too small) would be ok, too. It would add depth, and make us more Phoenix-like, with T-Mac and/or Shane playing PF more than expected.

How do they get that second good player without giving up next year's first round draft pick?

Got to love this board. Everybody but the Rockets* is shoring up their status in the elite!!!!

*well, and Indiana (Artest for nothing), Seattle, LAC, NYK, Phi, Orl, Atl, Bos, etc, etc

Portland is about to have a firesale on Randolph and Miles since they're selling the team. Seattle is probably going to break up Lewis/Allen for the same reason. Detroit very likely could lose Wallace. Miami is living on borrowed time. San Antonio is probably losing Nazr and is having trouble reloading. The Lakers with Radmonovic and Farmer are still mediocore at best. The Hornets are better but are in terrible need of a real center.

Last year, this board was jumping like fish over Swift and Derek Anderson, making unbelievable excuses for their pasts. They arrived and were same as before, and we still couldn't except it. Alston doesn't play for a month and therefore he's a bum and Mike James is Jesus. McGrady and Yao miss half the season each, and we don't understand way the supporting cast can't get us 50 wins and the playoffs.

This is a bipolar thread. Has been forever. We're going to get right. Breathe in, breathe out.

On to the other topic in the thread, I felt strongly for months that Peja was going to cut and run, ESPECIALLY after he refused to play through "knee soreness" in the playoffs when the Pacers needed him. He was going to look after himself (not an unfamiliar story to Sacramento fans) and he felt no loyalty to a team that was going to be a 3-month stop for him. I figured he wanted to go to Chicago or LA, but I guess that wasn't the plan or a real possibility. Bird and Walsh have to be fuming that they couldn't at least pull a S&T for him.

Damn, Bobby Jackson is the perfect 6th man for them. He can also come in and play alongside CP3 when other teams are going small. Hornets are getting good in a hurry. And are starting to remind me of the 2001 Kings.
