If I can catch a small bounce before then, I will move it. Still trying to learn more about this sector and not rigid about holding longterm. Shipping...I already had DHT and bought FRO on the dip today.
It appears that most of the active people in this thread are making money. So relax.
Have y'all seen this? http://www.etftrends.com/2008/11/triple-leverage-etfs-maximize-market-directions.html
Still staying mostly cash except for one long position (BC). It feels like we're in no man's land right now, and that's never a good place to enter a position.
Got out of my DUG at the end of the day and still holding SDS. A nice little 18.5% return from where I bought it Tuesday.
I wish I would have "hit" instead of "stay" because I would've beat the dealer with the next card in the deck.
Well I promised not to hold onto EEV too long and after yesterday's and today's market dumping, I'm out of this one. I'm going to hold onto SDS until the jobs numbers and Ford and GM's earnings announcements tomorrow morning. Those combined with the fact "it's a Friday after 2 days of slammings" makes me think it's worth the wait even if it means losing a little bit from today's winnings. Oh, and I've bought some other boring stocks nobody in this thread probably cares about (MCD, WMT, etc).
yeah i bought some tobacco near the close....on these big market down moves i am always scanning defensive stocks like those for potential buys.
At this point I'm feeling pretty confident that we will rally tomorrow. I'll be readying my longs in the AM.
feel free to post your ideas in the morning! you've all been doing pretty well as far as these posts have gone. i lost some on LDK and HPQ.. otherwise i'm doing alright.
will... not... go... long... for... capital gains... until... sub... 8k! (preferably near 7.5k ) The 2-day drop from 9.6->8.6 just goes to show how loose hands are. Will try to resist all the redundant opinions I've given in former posts
Learn to take profits. I took my profits on STP when it peaked intraday on Tuesday. Since then it has fallen over 42%. It's one of my top long candidates for tomorrow.
Things have probably changed for some people. They might not have used Stops before October, but probably do now to protect their gains. I have said it several times, but will repeat again, things will be limited on the upside with the Hedge Funds not being significant factors in the market. Once they sort out the redemption issues and close the ones that need to be closed, then there might be more firepower to push things a bit higher and clear the 10,000 level. Then another selloff and then a shot at 10,500. It will be interesting to see how far the next rally goes. If it fails before the most recent one around the 9600 level, then we might get a hard test of the bottom.
Nope. No one is gambling here? SSO is a great idea to go long on. Yet everyone here is asking folks what to buy NOW. Trying to "time" the market, etc. It is a fools folly. And just like gamblers, betters brag about the winnings and keep silent about the losses. Anyone who really thinks that Robbie has earned a 500% return every year is an idiot.
