don't forget the losses can be too. everything is changing so fast from day to day due to volatility that it is hard to say that 1 etf is great to buy right now. like i said earlier in the threat i think pst and tbt are going to be solid long term buys because they are ultrashorts of 7-10 year treasuries and 20+ year treasuries. we are printing money like no tomorrow and potentially have a 1.5+ trillion budget deficit coming up in 2009...not good for inflation or the prices of treasuries. i don't know exactly were the bottom will be in bond prices but i don't think it is a terrible idea to have this as a hedge on inflation. fyi both do have high expense ratios, like any ultrashort, of .95%. and if you are just looking for general info on etfs you can go here http://www.etfconnect.com/

This picture is not pretty at all, the triangle break I talked about earlier looks to have been confirmed. The question is how low do we go now ... 7000?
we haven't even broke lows yet. just because we broke a trendline within a larger range doesn't mean we will break lows.
Yeah...the futures were looking bleak earlier. Perhaps the triangle will still hold for a few more days, and might even resolve to the upside after all ... there are other bullish signs in the market, especially the fact that the dollar is way overdue for a retracement. The problem with breaking the wedge to the downside is that the last time we broke a wedge to the downside, we ended up with a nasty crash ... in fact, the market developed a protracted bear flag before it fell off a cliff. Hopefully that's not what happens again. We have to end up positive today, or it won't be pretty.
Is there an acceptable minimal value for dividend percentage on a stock? I've been eyeing some stock that pay dividends for long term investment and was curious about what would be the minimum dividend percentage that I should look for.
Companies expecting high growth are less likely to give you a high dividend, while a company growing at an average pace, will pay out more. Just depends on what type of company you are looking to invest in.
Often times its not a good idea to invest in companies with high yields cause there thing bad might be happening. If you see 20% yield be careful.
The DIG train is about to leave the station, last call climb aboard. OPEC will come out with a sinister plot today and jack up the price. Already crude is up for the day at $69. These 40-50 prices aren't going to happen when many are saying net cost is around 60. If you disagree then tell me why?
Yesterday: Today: October 8: DXO has been steadily declining since 10/08/08. It is now at ~$5.xx Please stop your nonsense.
in addition to that, if anyone here is looking for good dividend payers then make sure they have consistent earnings and very low debt to equity ratios. you want to make sure they can actually pay the dividends.
i agree crude is down a lot and likely will not be at these levels in a couple years but you can't depend on opec to do anything they say. they never do.
GOLD IS DOWN!!! I am so glad I did not buy my Eagle at 840 bucks per ounce day. Although dealers are not dropping the price on the coins yet they will have to int he next few days and weeks. Hoping to get a MS70 for $850 or so. Unless gold drops to 600 then I can go even lower. Is this 2006 again?
Oh yeah more on topic. I have a 401K and am very scared of actually investing in anything risky but I am going to buy like 500 shares of Ford (not to my 401K). Anyone know the cheapest online trading company? Etrade is like 12.99, my company lets me do it for less but I think I have to register and it takes a while. I won;t be buying and selling all the time so something without a yearly membership fee is what I need. One time buy feed is what I really need. 2 bucks a share is a steal, there is no way they are going under. 5 years from now They will be fine.
