I admire you're desire to get into the stock market. But in reality, a few hundred dollars in the stock market is probably not going to do you that well. Sure you can learn about the market more, but with capital like that, transaction costs would kill your returns. You could always play around with one of those market simulators or whatever they are on the internet where you can create a portfolio starting with 100k and practice before you decide you want to get into it or not.
The 2pm witching hour approaches... this should be interesting since at this moment the market is down 475 (after being down 600 not too long ago). If there's the usual end of day sell-off this could go from being ugly to being gruesome. I noticed it's hit that 7900-8000 mark a couple of times today and bounced up... not that that necessariliy means anything...
Was just wondering that -- will we see a sell-off here or will everyone see it down and try to grab stock?
I am done. Sold SDS and DTO positions for a nice profit (after a mistiming mistake earlier in the day). Now I'll wait to see what happens in the final hour to decide whether we have truly hit bottom and whether to go long. Here's looking at you, PMTI.
I got out of my DXD a bit earlier this morning (should've held it, but oh well). I made some money - I don't have the guts to hold onto this stuff into 2pm or over the weekend.
I think you misread the statement: The G-7 is considering including in its statement saying that no bank of systemic importance will be allowed to fail, and may outline principles all nations should follow, two European officials told reporters in Washington.
I think over the weekend, you're going to get all sorts of government action. And you're going to have an upward spike in worldwide markets either before the open. The question (and problem) is whether that spike lasts until the open, and if so, whether it lasts past 9am. It's amazing that this month, in eight trading days, we haven't had a single day when the market has even ended up 1 point. I think if the Dow could be flat for a day, it would spark buying.
I am seeing big opportunities for win in CCE and PMTI. Now I just have to gather some guts and do it.
My margin requirements mysteriously dropped by 50% this afternoon. Was there an SEC rule change or something? Suddenly I have significantly increased buying power.
there's some sort of weird vertical line through the negative sign in front of the DJIA right now. they need to fix that.
I just got out of DUG at 84.60 after buying it earlier at 73.20. Right after I sold the market swung upwards. My UYG is looking very nice.
Can someone tell me the symbol for gold and silver please? I want to make sure I'm looking at the commodity.
the market's pulling a constanza its doing the opposite of what it did the entire week, open up, close down
