I've been using OpenTable to make reservations for years, I couldn't believe when I read the other day that they were tearing **** up equity wise. I don't get/haven't investigated what their business model is, I guess they're making money from the restaurants, as for me I sign in, make a reservation, and log off, maybe logging in next month for the same 3 minute interval...so...yeah.
Have you guys invested in clear? I did. Certainly don't want history to repeat itself when i had a chance back in december to invest in netflix. 7 months ago netflix was around $60 a share and it is now at $170. Clearwire aka clear internet is around $8 a share and about to hit nationwide soon. Sprint and comcast are already using their tower to promote 4g. t mobile, at&t and verizon will soon jump on the 4g bandwagon. Just giving you guys a heads up.
Being in Baltimore, I was one of the first to use Clear. It's fast, affordable and VERY easy to setup. I would say do it.
A rotation into the energy and banking sectors while the expensive Techs (AAPL, GOOG, AMZN) snooze. Will have to see where this leads to.
Here is an interesting read about WFC and loans that were sold to investors. Wells Fargo Funding: Repurchase and Rescission Process Overview
a lot of times when I come into this thread I get lost and don't understand what y'all are talking about (esp with jargon). Could any of you recommend books or something so that I can learn about the market and actually understand what you are saying/ become a better investor?
Most of the talk in this thread is about trading and not investing. For investing I can recommend The Four Pillars of Investing: Lessons for Building a Winning Portfolio by William J. Bernstein.
Okay, this is a serious long shot, but..... I need a high risk stock that might boom within the next three weeks. I am part of a MBA team currently participating in an investment simulation game. Unfortunately, our portfolio has been terrible so far, so we have had to change our strategy to take on more risk. We are now getting desperate... hence my call for advice on a freaking public basketball BBS. Give me a good stock pick! Preferably one that is low-priced, but any tips will do. If we somehow win the competition due to your pick, I will donate $50 in your name to the tip jar (or just paypal you directly if you prefer). Oh yeah, and the stock must trade on the TSX! Ha ha ha... **waits for the crickets to start chirping**
i could give you several on the TSX Venture that are likely to 'boom.' But i've no idea on the direction. BOoom goes the dynamite. Sadly -- as year end approaches, I think there are more then a few vets of your program now actively managing funds who have the same mindset. Returns are off -- so WTF lets just swing for the fences. .
Unfortunately, the Venture is off limits for this competition. Man, we should have put everything into Air Canada at the start of the competition. Would have doubled our investment easy!
Market at 2 year highs. How high is this going to go before a pullback? Are we in for something similar to June of this year? Questions, questions...
the flash crash really put a dent in my portfolio. i sold a couple of stocks that have sky rocketed because i thought the market was taking a serious ****.
I know some Gold Bug types and they are quite happy at the moment. Unless they can expand the current interest in Gold and Silver beyond their brethren, the price acceleration will likely slow. There are probably some Momentum players also participating, but they tend to follow the action and can't be counted on as long term holders in the precious metals.
Do you read some of the Doom and Gloom web sites or are you in this trade as a momentum play?
Does anybody follow water related stocks or ETFs? How To Play The Coming Water Boom
yes I've been watching it for a while. It went parabolic I've been eyeing either ZSL or buying puts on SLV
