huge short squeeze in citi. there is a trade that a lot of funds are on where you short citi common and get long citi preferred for the exchange the govt is doing. well the share exchange ratio has got way out of whack and it's almost impossible to short citi so funds are getting squeezed out of their short positions due to forced buy ins or margin calls.
Haha, same here! Late last week I was torn on whether it would crack 2 dollars anytime soon, now I'm wondering if it can hit 10 by Tax Time! (LOL)
So...long term prospects? Or at least for this next few days. I have big money to move tomorrow, trying to decide on whether AIG or C is a better short term bet (like a week or so) to pick up some big gains.
c could squeeze higher as well as aig. both will likely mirror each other. i think the short squeeze is getting close to the top but with short squeezes they can overshoot big time. fnm and fre will also trade with these guys too.
my beautiful TBT, friggin' crushed. MSFT, ever vigilant in not going up no matter what. what did the Fed say besides buying stuff that made the market just soar now. oh, they're buying treasuries. well, at least i sold half of TBT already and the rest isn't very far down.
Bought 2,000 worth of FNM a few days ago when it was .39 cents and its at .75 now! Damn I should have invested more
I had about 1500 worth of FNM. Hooray for Fanny Mae. I'm trying to figure out if I should sell, or ride it out til tomorrow.
My predictions have been coming true thus far. I expected the market to reach a low by mid-March. I think it'll get up to 9000 by the end of May. It will bottom sometime between June and August at around 5900. By 2012, it'll reach 20,000, and we'll face massive hyperinflation. Watch out for gold long-term. SKF short-term.
i think the squeeze can last a little longer...take that for what its worth. i am hoping to god we have some sort of blow out day soon.
so would now be a good time to short the euro vs the dollar considering the 4% move today and considering europe's own problems?
Ok, so I need some advice. A buddy of mine told me to get out of Citi tomorrow because they are going to have to get a ton of shares back from the stockholders to pay employees and that it will hit the share price very hard. Anyone got some insight into this?
