Never had a surgery. I got a 16-stitch cut on my leg once. Another that probably warranted 10 stitches, but didn't get any. I went through a period as a kid where I fractured 6 fingers in about a year. I recently got a spontaneous infection near my nail. There was no cut, so I cut it open to let puss out and put some neosporin in. It just got worse and the flesh puffed up to cover half my nail. So, I went and got antibiotics to knock it out. That's it though.

I spent 8 weeks in traction and the summer in a full leg cast due to the broken femur and ankle. My cast came off in September and I was told to stay off horses for at least a year. That next weekend, my Dad went out of town and I talked my Mother into letting me ride the calmest horse in our barn. We lived on 10 acres and had a stable on our land. She tacked up Pete (a total sweetheart) and I climbed on the fence - I was still on crutches at this point - to mount. I rode him around the pasture once and it just didn't feel right, so I decided to get off. At that point my Mother told me she had never broken a bone and proceeded to get on him to ride him back to the barn. He let out a couple of huge bucks and off she went. She had to drive herself to the hospital where they determined she had broken her lower leg.

When my Dad got home, he was upset to find out she had broken her leg. When he heard the whole story, well, let's just say it was a good thing she had broken her leg.

Age 3:Broke 3 fingers after having a door locked with them in the back of it.
Age 7:Stitches in my foot after falling through a glass window pane that was laying up against a wall.
Age 8:Broken right wrist (just my ulna...my childlike bone qualities saved my radius, although it was bent and bowed a bit)
Age 9:Had a tumor removed from my inner ear...they cut from the bottom of my ear lobe, around the back of it, to the top of the ear lobe, and then peeled it forward on my head to to get inside the ear...that required a lot of stitches...5 and a half hour surgery.
Age 14 to 18: Multiple broken fingers playing high school football
Age 19:Meniscectomy after playing football for 3 years with a badly torn meniscus.

I have been fairly lucky. This thread, though explains to me why exactly I love my job. That is a bit morbid, but it's the truth...

    • I was once in a bizarre, unexplained gardening accident. The police decided the case was better to leave unsolved.
    • I once choked on vomit. Not my OWN vomit, per se. The vomit was of unknown origin. You can't really dust for vomit, afterall.
    • I once spontaneously cumbusted while onstage at a gig.

I believe this might be from Spinal Tapped. Totally different kind of movie. Not considered as much of a classic in the genre.

I have to admit that the sheer quantity of injuries in this thread is way more than I ever expected to see when I started this thread.
