Technically, the GOP Senators haven't even negotiated with Dems at all. Basically been Mnuchin and Meadows doing the negotiating with the Dems while the Senators sit back and b**** and moan. This bill they're putting out hasn't even been given to the Dems to negotiate...just a political ploy by McConnell, Cruz, and their ilk. Really hoping some of the GOP decide to vote against it.
Don’t want stimulus checks? Then, the government should mandate a nationwide freeze on all mortgage and rent payments until the pandemic is controlled. One or the other, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure this out. Instead, we have a bunch of selfish people in Congress that don’t care about the pandemic’s impact on the average American and their family.
Funniest part about it is that they couldn't even initially agree on the first bill they released. They are definitely broken within and couldn't even show a united front until this week. It only took them a month and 2 weeks to come together. Lol.
I will give credit where credit is due on Trump's part. Democrats are losing leverage as the economy roars back. They should have come to an agreement back in early August. Trump through EO gave everyone unemployed an additional $300 per week being paid out by most states. U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will extend several flexibilities through as late as December 31, 2020, allowing summer meal program operators to continue serving free meals to all children into the fall months. CDC order bans evictions through the end of the year. I have no love for the man but these things will definitely help people while Congress still has its thumb up its ass.
Trump will get to claim "I talked them into including the $1,200 stimulus; so I deserve credit."... once it is added during negotiations.
I don't know about the economy "roaring back", we don't really even know what the real damage to the economy yet. Yes it was smart of Trump to provide money when he could..... he was not the best about how he did it, as I think he could have come out of it looking better than he does.
In terms of roaring back I meant the unemployment level dropping to 8.4%. The UI boost of $300 is already about to run out. That whole EO or memorandum was pretty much illegal but it still did help folks out.
Yep...obvious how they were going to frame it. By the way, Rand Paul voted against it so it didn't even clear all Republicans.
He's just pissed his corporate overlords don't get that liability protection...he never gave a **** about the people.
Bad choice of words after watching Mnuchin speak but I've already stated that was relative to the new unemployment numbers only. Economists expected at least a 10% unemployment thru 2020.
Maybe Republicans should of not had their head so far up their ass mid-May through late-July that they would have negotiated with the democrats in good faith, rather than pretend that COVID would just go away and all would be back to normal by now. I am curious how things will turn out considering that some democrats are also hurting in the tight races. I think Republicans overplayed their cards long ago and should negotiate for real now. Sounds like Pelosi is willing to compromise $800 billion from their original proposal in May, which is a pretty damn good starting point. Are republicans going to continue being stubborn? Maybe Trump can do some name calling to attempt to save his own ass and help get a much better package through.

If McConnell gets liability protection in there for businesses and Trump says get it done, McConnell with do just that.
