That is the OP's point. It looks optimistic, but there's no guarantee. And along your note of wait-n-see, how about we try it out before we even dismiss it (not saying you, but some people do seem to want to dismiss it before testing it out).

    CXbby,

I am really surprised by your shallow perception while ignoring other possibilities. This is so un-CXbby-esque. Not acceptable by your standard!

    1. Slow start (small sample just like yours)

Breaking up the data in halves, Asik + Dwight 2-man rotation:

    1st half: (28 min)
    OffRtg 70.9
    DefRtg 112.6
    NetRtg -41.7

    2nd half: (32min)
    OffRtg 113.4
    DefRtg 80.3
    NetRtg +33.1 (link)

Asik and Dwight are amazing during the second halves! Their defensive rating is among the top of all 2-man rotations!

    2. I took the time and calculated their +/- for the halves (5 games):
    1st half: -24
    2nd half: +14

There is no strong statistical evident to indicate one way or another if TT is working or not; there is only small statistical evident supporting that we are the Jekyll and Hyde of two halves, as indicated by this data:

    Average 1st Half Margin: -1.2
    Average 2nd Half Margin: +6.8

    3. You also need to weed out other possibilities that can taint the data. I believe all Asik-Dwight minutes are exclusively played with Harden and Parson. Without looking into one of them as the possible culprit, you left stones unturned.

We all know Parsons is in a big slump. His biggest offensive duty is to knock down open 3's. If he passes up open 3's or unable to make them on a respectful percentage, he becomes a liability. We already have one offensive liability in Asik. We can NOT afford another one. How much of his slump contributed to TT overall negative net rating? We don't really know at this time without ANY data to support it.

The only way to weed out the possibility is by replace him with someone who not only take the open 3's but make them at decent percentage.

I have no problem with Parsons shooting slump, nor I want shorten his PT. It happens with everyone. He can take his sweet ass time finding his touch for all I care. Since our season hinges on the success of Twin Tower, Parsons' PT becomes critical; it's not HOW many minutes he gets but WHEN he gets them. If he keeps up with his shooting woes, the best course of acting is to replace him as our starter.

Asik was phenomenal in the 3rd quarter run in Portland. He was tottaly controlling the paint.Once he sat, the Blazers started getting better looks and they close the gap from 18 to 9.

He is also starting to get match fit and developing a understanding how to play with Dwight in the system. You can certainly see that he is having more confidence and starting to look for his offense. That give and go with lin for the dunk was something he wouldn't do at the start of the season or the euro step move where he caught the ball from the lin which indicated he knows when to move off the move and where to move off the ball.

This is a guy who didn't have a training camp at all.

A very good & important thread.

I like the way you admit your sin of premature judgement.

A definite 5 + rep in my book.

And BTW - I think it may be true (that Bev was missing for the TT cake to succeed...)

    :)

Bev is starting to cover Harden's ash. Yeah, he's complimentary to Harden's no defense that way. Lin and Bev are about the same at 3pt line with Lin being slightly better in % overall, but Bev slightly more consistent.

I think the plus side for Bev to start is the offensive rebounds. He's a great athlete to get those rebounds where our TT lack the ability of. However, the dilemma is if Bev plays aggressive, he will be in foul trouble, but if he doesn't plays overly aggressive, he loses what he starts the game for.
