Imagination + Delusion + Homerish. What does JVG accomplish to deserve "GREAT"? What's the difference between "GOOD" and "GREAT" nowaday?
Great is what he has done this year to justify that word. Legend are the ones that win the rings. Suicidal + depression + negativity = most of you around here nowadays.
Leading an injury-riddled team, full of role-players only there to complement the healthy stars, to the 5th best record in the NBA. Creating an OUTSTANDING enviornment/chemistry that is second to none in this league. Getting more out of players who were considered to be washed-up. Or you could have Mike Dunlavey who has had his best player healthy all year, along with several talented role players, but has a team with ZERO chemistry and on the brink of missing the playoffs. Or you could have George Karl... who also has tons of talent, and has had his stars miss less games than ours. Terrible chemistry as well. Or you could have Phil Jackson who may have the most talented player in the league, but he may have lost the passion/motivation he once had to win at all costs. He may just be going through the motions right now, collecting a check (which is why Lakers fans are starting to get pissed off).
Sixth best record and 1/2 game ahead of seventh - got to be accurate. You think V-Span and Snyder agree with the chemistry? You think Boki or Jim Jackson agree with you about chemistry? But he might have done better here in Houston, it is all guesswork to say the Rockets would be worse with Dunleavy as their coach....it is impossible to compare apples to apples here. Agree here, but same point as Dunleavy, it is pretty clear that their AI experiment has failed though....YEAH BABY !!! The Lakers have actually lost their 2nd and 3rd best players at the same time which has cost them a lot of wins. Kobe is not enough.....when you lose Odom and Walton. The Rockets without Battier would be in the same boat.......remember last year? Who was the coach of the team last year again? DD
LOL! You just proved my point, Jim. Who was the coach last year? Gundy. He led the team to 34 victories. Who is the coach this year? Gundy. He is leading the team to 50+ victories. Where is THAT MENTION? I guess its better to just focus on the negative. By the way, the Rocks have lost the best center in the game and T-Mac for eight. So, if Phil doesn't get any "punishment" for his injuries, neither should Gundy, Jim.
Uhh... why point to last year.... do you remember THIS year? The Rockets have missed more of Yao (who is worth more than Odom+Kwame) than the Lakers, Nuggets, or Clippers have had injury time to their star players. And you're the only one who thinks that the 12th man (yes, I put V-span behind Novak) and the new FA acquistion who has had multiple injuries + one incident in practice could hamper team chemistry.
You think V-Span and Snyder agree with the chemistry? You think Boki or Jim Jackson agree with you about chemistry? i wonder why all those chemistry guys are also not very good ...hmmm, very interesting as for snyder, i dont think thats a chemisty problem. Didnt he praise coach for pushing him to work harder? also, does chemistry issues have to be with bench players who play a very, very small role (if one at all)?
34 is good enough for you? 50 is good enough for you? OK, you have low standards...got it. Yep, just me, I am the only one.....don't mind all the other people posting about it saying the same thing, it is only me. DD
Playoffs in 3 out of 4 years (knock on wood) is fine by me after such a long drought. I'm sure most people here have higher hopes, but to say that 50 wins and playoffs is a failure is ridiculous. Given that Yao was out 33 games, yes 50 wins is pretty good.
how is a 50 win season considered "low standards", especially when arguably the best center in the league was out 20+ games?
Because as important as YAO is, he is not the most important player on the team...it is Tmac... Today's NBA is a perimeter game, it is getting more and more guard and SF oritented, and for the most part Tmac has been healthy. Losing Tmac is far worse than losing Yao...this team could still compete without Yao, but not without Tmac. And, 50 wins is a nice little record that will get you sent home in the first round.....that is NOT good enough for me. It is NOT enough just to reach the playoffs, you have to have success in the playoffs, at least a little....but first round and out 3 out of 4 years? That would be Minnesota not Houston DD
LMAO! A 5th spot is "GREAT". I get it now. Jerry Sloan leads a bunch of rookies and sophomores and in the 4th spot must be the "GREATEST". I never heard people say Pop is a legend or Larry Brown is a legend. LOL. It must be by your definition again. It's a pity nowaday kids dont even know the difference between "good" and "great". You ask them a question, they always answer "GREAT". "GREAT" is meaningless. Using some communist method by shouting hollowly "WE WILL MAKE THE WCF FINAL" wont get you there. The chance for the Rockets to beat the Utah in 1st round is only 50/50. Communist are delusional and unrealistic anyway.
That's an absurd argument. Yes, Tmac is the most important player on the team, but Yao is a HUGE piece. It would be as if the Suns lost Marion and Stoudemire for a large chunk of the season. They would be good, yes, but they would not win 60 games. Likewise, the Rockets have been successful this year, but are not going to win 60 games.
SO... Since we are going to be out in the first round with our 50+ wins, can we also count on you not posting about anymore wins or losses? Really wouldn't matter much, would it?
i doubt anyone would be satisfied if we go out in the first round. but credit has to be given to JVG for keeping this team near the top of the league in the regular season. if you told me we'd have an outside chance of getting homecourt in the first round after Yao goes down, i'd take it every time.
Doublebogey... You have NEVER been more right on. But, I would truly appreciate it if you can not mention me again in the same paragraph as Communist? I can't afford any problems being that I have two young daughters who would be upset if the kids in kindergarten start calling their old man a "communist" by mistake. Thanks, Big Guy! And thanks for calling me a kid! I just bought myself a remote controlled airplane two weeks ago! You should see dat baby fly! WEEEEEEEEEEE!
Acutally, I only see a slight offense fall off in regular season if the Rockets have a healthy T-Mac and Mutumbo playing out of mind (probably Mutumbo wants an extension to collect a few millions more for his charity). Let me tell u if there is no miracle doctor and a heathly T-Mac and his new confidence of his body, the Rockets are nothing but done. So much talk about coaching. And yeah, the Rockets have the best chemistry that's why RA yelled at the coach and JHo. Best chemistry doesnt win you games anyway. For the Lakers, I guess they have more injuries than the Rockets last season and the Lakers are still .500+. Oh, last season the Rockets went to lottery, I almost forget.
So now Yao AND the coach don't matter.... and Yao being out this year, and T-mac being out last year wasn't as bad as Odom and Kwame (with a healthy Kobe). Wow.
