I am glad the players on our team don't have the same mentality as the ones on our forums. If they would believe that the season is over just because Yao is gone then they are weak mentally and don't have the guts to play and try their hardest. I still believe that we have enough to make the playoffs and even advance if everyone works their hardest together. It's not over until its over people. Get over it and believe in your team if not gtfo and go do something else instead of whine. Rockets have enough to win and i believe they can do it.
Optimism is better for the soul than pessimism. Of course, I haven't decided whether my optimism would be better directed toward winning the Championship this year, or getting the #1 draft pick and winning it next year.
They will make the playoffs but lose in first round. They have enough manpower. T-Mac seriously seriously needs to show NBA the superstar that he STILL IS! Please, T-Mac!!!!
This is a team of competitors. In particularly, guys like Chuck, Rafer, Carl, Dikembe, Luis, Shane, and Bobby aren't wired to feel sorry for themselves when the going gets tough. They'll come together, they'll rally, and they won't go down without a fight. For that reason I believe they will still make the playoffs. Beyond that, it looks bleak...but I still believe.
This sucks more than anything.. I guess now Scola will be our starting C with chuck hayes at PF. Mutumbo is too old to do what he did last year, I don't think he has much left in his tank. It's ALL on Tracy Mcgrady now to do anything. Other than that I don't think this team will get far at all with rookies. What about: PG Rafer Alston SG Bobby Jackson SF Tracy Mcgrady PF Shane Battier C Luis Scola I know battier isn't really a PF (or even close for that matter), but I think inserting Bobby Jackson into the line up will increase our points and help us play a faster pace game. Man I don't know.. this sucks.
I voted with my heart that we will make it to the 1st round.I feel it's going to be very hard to do but I still believe in the team.
Well, all our guys have to do is score more points than the other guys each game. Now we get to see how good Adelman really is. Look at what Phoenix managed to do over the last few seasons, and they never had a legit big at all. Dallas doesn't have a legit big. Neither does NO. Even Utah doesn't really have bigs. In fact, no other team in the league has a 7'6" dude with the skills Yao has. It's still basketball, still about playing D and putting the ball in the hole.
We make the playoffs. I always believe we have a chance to get past the first round, even w/out Yao. But being objective and looking at the state of the West now, it's not likely.
Well, I voted that we will finally go to the second round. Even if the players don't feel the same way, I feel that it will only get better. It has to get better. IT HAS TO!!!!
With Yao, I would have expected us to go deep..Now, it'll be just plain luck to get out of the first round...We can go small, depends on the match-ups, but overall, you need a big man that can score and create...
I will keep my expectation low and am hoping for a surprise. Hopefully Deke will be motivated and bring us his youth spirit once again.
And how likely is it that T-Mac will give a "Jordan-like" effort? Of course, he's got the ability to take this team on his back... but then again, he could also reel it in and call it quits. His performance over the next few games will set the stage for the rest of our season.
there are 27 games to go till the end of the season, I do not see where we can go 20-7 to stay in the playoff race.
