Initially I thought what Doc Rocket ment was that they wanted to give more time to a guy like T-Mo whose contract is up after this season so they can decide if he is worth signing a new contract. But even T-Mo's minutes have dwindled severly. I think you are right haven, Rudy just is so stuck with his rotations and afraid to hurt the veteran's feelings that he won't make a change. Chris
Nobody said that Boki is a sure thing, but you have to play the guy to find out. Yes, we are struggling for the last playoff spot, but why did you draft a guy that high without even planning to play him? Either the GM, or the Coash should get a pay cut because of this.
Yeah like Okur,Manu,Girichek,Jaric,Nene, must i go on. Plenty of these guys no one or hardly anyone had seen play except the scouts. Most reports were that Nachbar, the man who kept a lotto pick in Nicoloz on the bench was a 22 yr old nba ready to play type player. If you're going to draft a euro player who has been playing pro ball since 15 and decide he's not ready, then whats the point? Oh yeah, that guy named Tont Parker started from day 1 and made Antonio Daniels tradeable. Either they messed up or someone don't know what the hell they're doing.
Maybe Rudy wants to make sure he will be the small forward on the all-time Rockets anniversary team. On the Nachbar question, I'm starting to wonder about him myself. Early in the season, I saw flashes of being a good player. He has a knack for being able to drive to the hole when the defense gives even a slight opportunity. It's just that about 3 out of every 4 layups he made would rim out. Oh so close. Maybe it was the groin injury still lingering. Or maybe it was trying to adjust to the speed/physicality of the NBA game. Or learning to play in a different type of offense than he was used to in Europe. I haven't seen enough of him this year to make a valid determination yet. If he's completely healthy, he should be getting 4, or 5 minutes once or twice a week(not garbage time) so he can improve, because you can't get by on just practicing alone, there's nothing like game situations. Look at Kareem Rush with the Lakers. He doesn't get consistent minutes. But he does get in games, even with the Lakers fighting just to get back in the playoff picture. Sometimes he does good(when his j is falling), sometimes he doesn't. But he is at least getting a little taste here and there that will help him prepare for next year. With Bostjan, he'll almost be starting from square one. I'm not sure if BN's game fits in that well with this offense, but we'll never know until he gets some minutes in something other than the end of blowouts. Since our offense has been floundering lately, I say send him in with the 2nd quarter shock troops, and let him get some experience. It may not pay dividends this year, But it's in the best long term interest of the franchise to get him some pt, even if we find out he can't play. On Ginobilli, it's pretty hard to compare him to Nachbar. MG was considered by some to be the best player in Europe. He's a 6'5''(or 6) 2-guard, and BN is a 6'9'' small forward. Also, Nachbar is about 3 years younger than Ginobilli. MG does seem to have more quickness, and athleticism than Bostjan. But most 2's do compared to 3's. Bostjan does seem to be lacking a little in lateral quickness, but I'm hoping it's because of the groin. About the only sf we know for sure fits in with this offense is working for channel 2 now. AIR BULL, make a comeback!!! We miss you.
I just love how since he's a Euro he's instantly supposed to come in and be an impact player. You know, even a positive stereotype is still a stereotype.
Nachbar was actually a PF but since he had some range people thought that he could play SF in the NBA. The same situation as Mirsad Turkcan (does anybody remember him?) He was one of the best PF in the Europe with some outside shooting and ball-handling. However he was undersized (He was 6'9'') so they tried to make a SF from him in the NBA but it did not happen. He returned to Europe and he became last year's Euroleauge MVP and probably the best PF in Europe. I think the situation is same in Nachbar case (although I think Mirsad Turkcan is a much better player than him). Also there was some discussion about Okur. What do you think about him after last night's game?
The first rockets game I watched this season, I didn't even know who nachbar was... He doesn't look that great, during pre game warmups I thought he was colin pine just messin around or somethin...
I can't find the links at the Rockets site. However, I think the Rockets built that hype in their post draft/training camp coverage of Nachbar. I remember reading how we shouldn't expect too much from Yao, but "the other rookie" was going to have an immediate impact with his shooting and slashing ability. The Chronicle has a number of articles featuring glowing commentary from Rockets coaches about how well Nachbar mixes with Cat and Francis. So it is a bit frustrating that when the coach keeps saying that our problem is scoring, shooting and transition points, the Rockets don't play the one guy they said would provide those things.
From Richard Dumas to Ced Ceballos to Shawn Marion. How come the best small forward in recent Rocket history besides Rudy T has been Rodney McCray? [/B][/QUOTE] Thats because Rudy wants to solidify his position on the all time Rockets team. LOL
