If the Glove is waived can we steal him>? If Atlanta waives the glove can we steal him? or you think he will refuse to report? I mean hell they showed him no love by trading him to a bottom feeder...... You think he would mesh with the Rockets team we have?
'Payton has asked the Hawks to buy out his contract, the Boston Herald and ESPN reported, citing unnamed sources. Payton then would become a free agent, and possible destinations include the Celtics, Miami Heat or Minnesota Timberwolves, the newspaper reported." Can Rockets do something to get him?
Why would we need to steal him? If he's waived, we could just sign him, assuming he wants to play for us. But, if I'm GP, I'd call the teams in contender-order: San Antonio, Phoenix, Miami, and on down.
ATL doesn't have a choice because the trade deadline has passed. Either they waive him or he occupies a roster spot but never reports. I'd take him if ATL waives him. That means we pay him the league minimum and we would waive Moochie.
No idea why he'd want to go to that train wreck in Boston. If I were him I'd go to Miami or San Antonio. He's chasing a ring.
How about Carlos Arroyol. I don't think many point guards in the league has ever regisitered 18 assist in a game.
GP has nothing left on defense. I still have this terrible memory where he was repeatly beat by opposite PGs last year with the Lakers. Why do we need to sign an old PG when we are not ready to be contender this year?
Can we pack Ward+Barret+Moochie and trade them to Atlanta for GP? Tell Hawks not to waive GP yet, the above talents are on the way
No GP. I like the squad we have now. Sura will be back soon. Him comboing up w/ James will be a great asset to this team.
Just give him a deal for the rest of the year. Hope he takes it and keep him away from our rivals. He can help by not being on one of the other teams or hpe he just signs in the EAst
IF Sura is done for the year, I'd look at getting him for the remainder of the season. I don't look forward to seeing Mooch on the court in a Rocket uni. Otherwise, no. Sura, James and Payton would be too crowded and someone would start complaining (probably Payton).
Concerning the possibility of Payton ending up here... that hit me as soon as I heard that Atlanta was probably going to waive him.... I agree he is chasing a ring and other teams will be on his A list. But, if by some chance this becomes a possibility there are a couple of basic questions to ask about it. For talent and skills would you rather have Moochie or Payton? .. AND For chemistry both on and off the court which would you prefer? It's like two parallel criteria that affect the whole. So if it were to become a serious possibility which would we prefer? I still think no matter WHO you end up with. Given that skills are a prerequisite, chemistry is equally important. And chemistry is most importantly about learning the playing habits of your teammates and being able to get the ball to the right people at the right time as it is a personality meshing issue. It may be one of those "you don't know 'til you try it" deals.
Payton isn't going to SA because they already have Parker as the starter. So either you'd piss off Parker by benching him or GP would come off the bench...which he already said he wouldn't do that. GP in Houston makes a little sense because with Houston playing better and him on the roster, that instantly makes us a legit contender. I doubt it will happen but it is an interesting thought. Sura is a natural 2 guard anyway. This time last year was the 1st time Sura ever played point guard. He's always been a 2. 1. GP, James 2. Sura, Wesley 3. McGrady, Barry 4 Howard, Baker, Padgett, Spoon 5. Yao, Deke That is a strong and deep lineup.
Thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has no idea why Barrett is on our team. He's horrible. Anything we can do to get rid of him, do it. All he does it brings the ball down the court and practically run back down to the defensive side and wait for the other team to come back. Useless.
Some reason I don't see an underachieving team with Cassell, Sprewell and Garnett adding GP to the mix.
It seems that when Gundy signs someone, he only cares that if he can defend. In that case, GP is Gundy kind of guy.
I don't think we'll get him. The Rox are not known for signing old pgs. Never, ever, ever, have we ever signed a pg past his prime, ever. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever..............
