Nope, that just isn't true. I might take a flyer on him with the vets minimum to see if he could bring some offense off the bench when all the starters are resting (see: Lucas III, John) but for a contract of any substance, I would pass.

And if you think there is any chance of SF taking the veteran minimum this summer to come here, I've got this bridge for sale. ;)

If the Knicks had bought him out and we signed him to the vet min for the last part of this season, that could have worked. But to commit to SF and give him a multi-year deal this summer, nooooooo way the Rockets should do that. Like you say, take a pass.

Well, obviously he'd play for near the vet's minimum. His value has been totally shot. This is like the hot girlfriend you dumped, but she's willing to be a screw buddy for absolutely no commitment and a promise to restrain the psychoness by 90%.

    At least for a year.

Missed practice with the Flu? That says it all right there. He's not even trying in NY anymore. I'd still take a shot at him here, though.

Buy him out New York. Welcome back Steve to Houston. Steve can shoot as well as Rafer, and unless totally finished due to a knee injury can play defense as well as Rafer. (Not saying that much, I agree.) Rafer is a better dribler, and perhaps a slightly better assist man, but Steve used to be a great finisher and Rafer is a zero in this regard.

Heck, if nothing else, let Rafer log the big minutes and bring Stevie to finish the game, when you want someone with some balls. Sort of like we used to do with Kenny Smith. We brought in Sam to finish the game .

Rofl, funniest thing against Orlando was seeing SF3 leaving Redick wide open for a three. Redick just curled around and SF3 stood like fifty feet away from him. JJ buried the three and Isiah was like WTH.

bring in steve to finish the game? surely you jest!

isnt that what t-mac and yao are for? id take either one of those dudes 8 days a week over "franchise" when the game is on the line.

too many people here have an unhealthy attraction to the guy. why??? he sucks! he cant even get minutes on one of the crappiest teams in the league. what makes any of you think he would help a team that is fighting for the 4th seed in the west. this team is currently loaded w/ players who can pass the ball well - it is an absolute joy to watch this team when they are passing and getting efficient baskets. francis would single handedly KILL our passing and we would go back to the one on one dribble and bounce the ball off your foot routine that we had when he was here the first time.

i really wish jvg would just come out and say he has no interest in steve so everyone could give it rest.

Well, I agree Steve Francis would ruin this team, but the prospect of seeing Franchise, T-Mac, and Yao for one season, even if it ends up in flames, is too interesting to ignore. If there's a healthy chance we could get Francis for the minimum, we should give it a go. Dump him if it flames out, but surely this would be a better idea than developing V-Span or JL3.

But you're right, mama. JVG wouldn't go for it. So we shouldn't be talking about it like it'll realistically happen.

Guys that are unhappy can look much much much worse than they really are. Check out Mourning's resurgence in Miami after his NJN stint. Carter when he left Toronto (don't forget how finished he looked). Stackhouse with the Mavs. Webber once he got to Detroit.

Francis, at worst, would be Mike James for us. He wants to be on a winning team and he wants to be here. Give him small, short money on the condition that he full-heartedly accepts a bench role.

I personally want no part of him as a starting PG. But as a combo guard 6th man, he'd be a great boost.

If I sat next to you in a Rockets game, I would punch you in the face.

His BBall IQ is just too low. Isaiah has realized this.
