you must hhave not seen a lakers game without shaq. Kobe screws the team up when shaw is gone since he takes 25+ shots

How does this trade improve our team? Kobe isn't a true PG. We'd be down to Wilks and MJ (assuming he returns). No way MJ will play >30 min a game for the whole season, and Wilks will not be developed to play 18 mins a game. This thread is hideous!

Kobe wants to be the first option, and he won't be on a team that has Yao Ming starting Center.

No way, we don't need Kobe. His number is good but don't forget Shaq is double team and all time and leave Kobe at will. I don't see his value as a Rocket. What Rocket need is a Mark Jackson protocol but younger. How about Mike Bibby.

In his career, Kobe averages 1 more shot attempt per game than Steve, thats all. We'd be crazy to not take Kobe over Steve...Kobe is better in every aspect of the game; rebounding, passing, less TO's, higher shooting percentage(which isn't saying much) and, of course 1000% better in crunch time. Kobe needs a big man to play off of, I think he knows that...who'll be the best bigman in the game after Shaq is gone? I think we all know the answer to that. :D

How about for T-Mac? Or Francis and Mobley for T-Mac, and we can use the trade exception to get a decent point guard. Just a thought, but let's wait until the end of the season as our players are only starting to understand their roles and playing better.

If we are going to trade Francis and the trade exception, I would hope it is for a true PG and a bruising PF, not another SG, no matter how good he is.

umm....guys....kobe isnt going to want to be second fiddle to yao, which is what he will be. i don't care how good kobe is....the offense would still need to run thru yao and not kobe.

Why would we want Kobe Bryant!? People accuse Francis of being a ball-hog and then turn around and want the biggest ball hog of them all. A guy who was injured, yet instead of pulling himself from the game shot with his left-hand. This team is starting to play some serious ball and grow together, and some want to trade one of our star players for a guy with a ego problem. Trading Francis for Kobe, or Mobley and Francis for McGrady is called rebuilding. Just enjoy the team we have now. We're winning, having fun, and the players love playing together. That's great chemistry.

What's the difference do you see between Steve and Kobe in their games? I don't see much difference except that Kobe is better in defense and shooting. He's also taller. This is no bad mark on Steve. Kobe is one of the best players in the league. Yao is not good as Duncan too. That's no bad mark on him too. However, Duncan is not available. Kobe possibly is.

Who plays PG? With Kobe in the lineup, you can bring Kenny Smith out of the TNT studios and he'd lead the team to a 100 points a game.

Kobe will be available, if he's free. I imagine he'll stay put, but if he is entertaining opportunities both he and the Rox would be erring to not see it through.

I don't see Kobe as a good fit with JVG, but Spree was, so maybe KB would be, as well.

A talent like Kobe's has to be considered. Has to be.

Kobe is a MUCH better player than Francis, there is no argument about that IF you are not just a homer here!:D Don't bring the stats thing up for Francis, Kobe was the 2nd option for the Lakers while Steve has been THE MAN here until this season.

But, why the Rockets want Kobe in the first place? While Yao's personality will make it easier for Kobe to be THE MAN for the Rockets, but is that in the best interest of the Rockets? Can you win the title with Kobe as the first option, taking 20+ shots a game?

While you need talent to win, but better talent not necessary wins you title, better team does. We all know the ego Kobe has over there with the Lakers, we have a pretty good team with what we have right now. All we need is a little bit more time together, with Francis finally figure out his place in the system, we could be the contender for the years to come. With Kobe, I'm not sure we'd be better than we are now.

I agree with Uprising, it's a team game and your team has a great chemistry right now.

Kobe is arguably one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. He has been voted once to the all-NBA defensive 1st team. Rockets perimeter defense is average at best. I think the paint defense is #1, but anyone can see that jumpshooting teams like the Grizzlies, Sonics, Nuggets, Mavs, and Kings have wiped the floor with the Rockets due to the poor reaction time of the perimeter defenders when they are confronted with quicker guards. When the Kings come to town and start raining outside jumpers all the Rockets, you'll see what I'm talking about. Yao is arguably the defensive centerpiece on this team, but he only handles the paint. He's not Superman. He can't fly around and get a hand in every outside shooter's face.
