Mark Mcnamara.... He was a 6"11 Left handed center on the Lakers... Played around the early 90's.... He is a poor man's Jason Collier...

If I were Steve Francis I would not do interviews, he is awful at it. He is less understandable than Ming, and he always seems to come across in a negative way, sort of sullen.

I thought Franchise did fine. You guys are being a little to critical. It is still Steve's team. And even when Yao is leading the NBA in three or four catagories the language and leadership barriers will still leave Sir Stevie at the helm.

Overall Steve and Rudy are doing an outstinading job of guiding this team to a ring-ring. Just wait. Yao will get the pub. Yao will get the digits. But Steve is driving this car.

I think Steve naturally speaks with a lot of street slang. He seems to consciously try to speak more proper english when he's on national tv. I guess because of that his sentences don't always come out comprehensible. But I figure give him some time to learn the trade. It really is an art to give public interviews and for a lot of people it takes time. In any case, Steve isn't as bad as Sam Cassell ever was.

    That's just plain stupid.

Man, Steve can't get a break, can he? If anybody mentioned a Steve vs. another player matchup, they would think it was a bad thing and demand to hear about team ball. Now Steve takes that stance when asked about Yao vs Shaq, and now he is wrong for preaching team ball.

I didn't see the interview, but I wouldn't blame Steve for being upset like you guys said. How much can this guy talk about Ming before he gets fed up? I mean, he should be in his hotel room resting up but instead is on a set with bright lights in his face to answer the same questions he is asked in every damn town he has been to. I don't see how anybody else can blame him for being upset either, imagine having to spend 20 minutes everyday answering questions about a co-worker?

As for Steve's public speaking, the only complaint I have is that says the word "definately" far too many times in every interview. It's similar to the problem of somebody saying "like" all the time. That's not a ghetto/street slang problem.

Strong words cowboy. Just to add to your post, I also don't see how anybody can compare an office worker to an NBA basketball player. Your missing one BIG factor in your argument. For us regular folk, we don't expect spending 20 minutes everyday answering questions about a co-worker. When you're a professional athlete, you do.

Anytime you bring in a player on your team as hyped as Yao Ming, you will have to answer questions about that person. When Steve first came into the league, the veterans like Hakeem had to endure the same treatment. Next year I guarantee Lebron's teammates will have to endure the same questions. Ten years from now when Steve and Yao are in the latter part of their careers, they'll have to endure the same questions about the next great Houston Rocket. My point is that it was completely forseeable that the media was going to ask Steve the same questions over and over again. That's what the media does. Steve knows that too. If Steve did not expect all the questions about Yao, you may have a good point. But the interest in Yao was completely expected and some people are clamoring about Steve's lack of professionalism in some of his interviews about Yao. Although I don't think Steve has been unprofessional (just misinterpreted), I think it's a perfectly valid point.

At least Steve is getting asked about his teammate. It should be easy for Steve to compliment Yao. If Phil Mickelson can stand another question about Tiger Woods, Steve can stand another question about Yao.

some of you people are insane. why does every interview with francis have to be put under the microscope. nothing he said was wrong or insulting and he was plenty positve about yao. in the past he has been as forthcoming with praise for yao as any other player on the team. he doesn't have to stay on his nuts 24 hrs even though apparently we're not happy unless he is. give the guy a friggin break.

as far as the shaq v yao what was wrong with the comment. in context he's perfectly correct, this is not a one man game, it will take the whole team to earn a victory and same goes for them. yao himself has said almost the exact same thing regarding shaq and the team game.

    Sorry just double post.

But really maybe Steve really needs a PR guy. Doesn't Mobley have a PR guy as well? What has his PR guy ever done for him? Not many Mobley commericals.

And CY02 sets the clutchcity record for double posting @ 80 minutes apart!!

Maybe CY02 needs Colin Pine...Colin could work as CY02's secretary, to avoid such problems?

Did anyone catch the grin on Steve's face when he said something to the extent of ..."Well, Cuttino needs the ball a lot..."

Truth -- Stevie needs lessons in diction and being interviewed.
Truth -- the segment had too much Charles and Kenny and too little with the guest, our Franchise.
Truth -- he made a defusable Yao - Shaq comment. And if Yao is never as good as Shaq, so what. Shaq is at the pantheon of the most dominant players of the eons.
    Truth -- Stevie did fine.

Stevie's next platform? The All Star Game. Then the Playoffs.

He did admit that he and Mobley have had the ball the last two years and it hasn't worked. He goes on to say that they found a niche by running the offense through Yao. I think he's getting the point. I don't know about Mobley though.

Mobley Vs the T-wolves: 19 pts, 6-13, and 5 assists.

Mobley Vs the Magic: 14 pts, 6-13, 5 assists, and 9 rebounds.

Damn, that Mobley is an idiot, look at those terrible #'s he's putting up:rolleyes: Obviously, he doesn't get the POINT.
