Do you guys remember In playoff, when defence was tight, Kobe penetrate close to board, then passed to Shaq, it's almost unstopable. I think Steve and Ming can do that too, Good part is Yao has better shot range than Shaq, who need toget close board and dunk. It means has mor space for Steve penetration. I do not know why JVG has not designed those kind of attack. I saw some of them, but very rarily.

Don't you imbeciles realize that the trade deadline has passed? Steve Francis is the starting PG for the Houston Rockets for the rest of the season. Deal with it. I thought that all of these asinine threads would cease once the deadline passed, but I should've known that people would much rather complain and beat dead horses than actually engage in meaningful debate about something other than hypothetical fantasy NBA Live trade scenarios.

LOOK FYI: FRANCIS IS AN ALL-STAR...both Talent and Pop Culture wise. However, he is not playing at his potential or well in the system currently. This could be mental and selfish reason or just a slump( or even not his style of play).

The Status Quo: Francis lost "being the Franchise": a team based on Steve being the focal point and main offensive player. He is adapting, and yes to not to much too his liking...as all player do, he is slumping....the question is will he adapt or even willing to adapt...now that the dealine past we have the rest of the season to figure it out. Steve must and hopefully realize that Yao is now the main option and the main option on offense. However, after the season's end that question will and must be answered. It might be a oil/water situation.....Stevie might not want to play second fiddle or at least play in the role of a traditional point guard . Yao needs a proper distributor, which is rare to find. Since Francis has been here he has always been a PG/SG role.....more so a Allen Iverson situation when he first came into the league....Steve thinks like a SG...shoot first.....yes he makes assists, but so do other positions, etc. Francis does need to make a change and adapt and if its either he is not cooperative or just not meant for this system won't matter.....the JVG and Yao system is Houston's future and what is best for the Team is needed. IF Stevie doesn't pan out, hopefully he will, I hope will have willing takers who can see Steve's Market Value and Natural Talent when this summer arrives. So for now being skeptical and prejudging the situation still has yet to be seen. Its only year one of the JVG era.......Yao is young and still learning...and maybe its not just Stevie but other players and positions that need adapting.....maybe next year JVG will find players better for the system....remember we lost out of Eddie Griffin who of course was a large loss at a position we need help at. Cato is doing Ok, Mo Taylor doign fine as "scorer" off the bench.....but lets face it...Its only the begining.....this is not our time...though we do need to find the pillars on which to build this team one....one for sure is Yao......Stevie was suppose to be anther pillar, but we shall see only the future will give us the answer.(and I don't mean Iverson :)

lol...i am not in favor of getting rid of Steve but this is not a trade thread. It is a discussion of how Francis and Yao coincide with each other and if it is best for the team that they are on the same team.

In addition, those who say that Francis is currently playing with a Kobe/A.I. mentality simply haven't been watching the last dozen or so games. People are so firmly entrenched in this "Stevie is the anti-Christ of PGs" mentality that it's (seemingly irreversibly) clouded their judgment.

Well, last night I saw the first alleyoop in a Rockets game from SF3 to Yao! Cannot remember whether they did this on another occasion in a previous game.

Coaching! It's the coach's job to get the best out of each player. I hope SF gets traded just so this time next year I can laugh at all those people who ran SF out of town.

Ray Allen - Perfect. Deferential, skilled, intelligent. Team guy.

EBrand - Good, but will stay in clipper land as bait for Kobe.

    AIverson - Ballhog. Headcase.

KBryant - Going to Clippers for Maggette. Ballhog. Headcase.

    RWallace - Headcase.

I also think Toronto would swap Vince Carter for Francis, as posted before, now that they are looking at missing the playoffs again. Bosh + Rose + Francis is more balanced than Bosh + Rose + Carter. VC would team well with Ming, similar to Allen.

What is so great about Allen? He is shooting 1% (44.8) better than Steve (43.2), which means every 100 shots they take, on average Allen will make one more than Steve. That is one more basket in six or seven games.

Not to mention that Stevie is a better rebounder (1.5 rbg more) and better passer (2.5 apg more).

I like Ray Allen but he is the most overrated shooter in the league. Just look at his CAREER numbers. 45% from the field, 40% from the three point line.

Those are good numbers, but they are average for a shooting guard. His scoring is above average, but that's about it.

Ray Allen or Kobe would be excellent additions. A tall SG or even better a tall athletic SF will be the best complement to Yao. Players like Peja or Melo would be ideal. A tall wing who can shoot the trey and is a threat to drive is the perfect player to feed the post. If Boki could play D and get his confidence in his shot then he would help this team immensely.

Personally I really like Ray Allen and feel like he is a more reallistic target for a trade involving Steve.

Your guard doesn't have to shoot a better percentage if you get more shots. Especially if you get more shots to that big Chinese guy shooting over 55%. I'll gladly take the same percentage from a replacement guard that spreads the floor, plays smart, and gets Yao 8-10 more attempts.

And what proof do you have that Ray will get Yao more shots?

    Yetti,
You should realize that SF is trying to pass the ball to Yao more than others. Everybody wants to shoot the ball in this team. Last night Yao was too tired, he got enough ball, but the Dallas game was different story.

Basically, the statistics say that Ray Allen has an adjusted field goal percentage of 52.1% for his career while Steve has an adjusted field goal percentage of 47.3%. Ray Allen also has a higher points per shot for his career than Steve.

    Michael Finley
    Allan Houston
    Kobe Bryant

All of the 3 above have worst numbers shooting percentage-wise than Ray Allen.

I don't think a 3 like that exists... other than Kevin Garnett. So good luck with that...

As for me, I'll take Steve over that any day.
