Im saying Scola will still be in contract making $10+ million at the age of 35 when he will half the player he is today, he has hit the magic number and will get progressively worse as time goes by

Please reread my post, Im saying Scola will be 35, not that he is 35

This would be a great trade for Orlando. The magic need a perimeter scorer who won't choke during playoffs, Carter and Lewis are pretty much zeros when the game is on the line. Nash deserves to be on a contender, and age-wise Nelson is a better building block than Nash.

Nelson+a pick for Nash. Seems good for both sides.

i guess it all comes down to winning...i'm almost sure nash can still play at a high level 2 yrs into brooks' new contract....if Nash works out this season, would houston be likely to offer brooks a max deal, knowing that nash may still start for another 2 yrs? what about the fact that he would be coming off a sixthman role, limited minutes, and therefore put up lower numbers. The rockets and others may use that as leverage.

I dont know the finer details to know if there's any loophole or other options Brooks could have...but i just can't see him not getting upset over a move like that, especially when he's about to enter his prime. It hurts his stock, his career, and i think he really wants to be the best he can be AND win, not just win as a back up. I would say he'd take the risk it to reach his full potential in the NBA.

Realistically, it'll cost Brooks and more. Well worth it too.

Stat has been tearing it up in NY in the preseason. The dude has been unstoppable driving to the basket and he is one of the few big men that hits his FTs. Phoenix misses Amare more than Amare misses Nash.

He's option number 1 in NY and I expect him to be top 5 in scoring this season.

With these guys for Nash to pass to in Adelman's motion offense, no defense could contain Nash. Too many options for Nash to work with. Nash would fit in w/ the type of guys that are on the Rockets too.

We'll see. After all this is preseason and Amare has been getting his pts off of roster hopefuls. I'm willing to bet barring injuries and major trades PHX will end up having a better record than NY.

Nash's numbers are still about the same as any of his previous peak years: 50.7% FG / 42.6% 3PT / 16.5PPG / 11 Assists. The guy hasn't aged. I do think part of the reason has to do with the really cerebral aspect of his game where he doesn't need to exert a ton of physical energy to make plays (like Cassell also) and the fact that he takes really good care of his body. I remember reading that he doesn't consumer sugar, which is one of the main things that ages people due to inflammation. I can totally imagine Nash playing into his 40s, which would be awesome since he'd displace Stockton on the all-time assists list. Grant Hill also cut out a lot of sugar too and he looks pretty young (maybe due to his not playing much when he was injured).

Nash would have to avg 10 assists a game for almost 10 more years in order to pass Stockton. The all-time assist record is probably the record that will take the longest to break.

Scola will be 35 five years from now. By that time, based on his historical production throughout his professional career, he will have earned that kind of money. Look at the forest, not the trees.

    I would trade Brooks + JJ+ JT+ Knicks pick in a heartbeat.

Nash is better than Brooks in almost every aspect of the game

    1) Better shooter including FTs, which will be all-important this year, as we know
    2) "More clutch"
    3) Better playmaker
    4) More of a charismatic leader

    - Worse defender (well, they both suck)

That last years Suns roster minus Nash was a lot weaker than this roster minus Brooks. He almost got them to the WCF, without Lopez. With a team like Yao, Scola, Battier/Bud, Martin ... christ this team would kill it. Nash is a serious upgrade over Brooks and I want him to win a title, because he deserves it. If we do the trade, he will have is chance. (Oh and Nash would get to play with a coach who is not a total dumbass.)

Nash has another serious value: he makes his teammates look seriously better. He could inflate our roster's value so that later on, we could pull off even better trades.

I wasn't excited about Carmelo or Bosh, but heck, this news just got me pumped.

And +1: We could win games with style. That's good news for the marketing, I guess. Also good for televised games, etc.

I forgot to mention that Nash has excellent work ethic. Since Ish (although smaller) has comparable physical tools, Nash could be an excellent mentor for him. Nash says that his shooting comes from a lot of work, I think he could help Ish to some degree. Well, not .605 (that's insane for someone of his size and style of play, Stockton has similar stats, but Nash has to force more shots, which is clearly shown by his 1.7 higher FGA/game stat, which is a huge difference) career TS, but something acceptable.

I think Nash would fit well in Adelman's system. He doesn't force his shots, just takes them when open or when there is no option left (that's why his TS is incredible), and although he is a distributor, I think he wouldn't dribble away the clock or stop the flow of the Adelman offense. Actually, he is a better fit than Brooks.

He can score 30 any given night, but he will usually settle with something like 20 on 12 shots and 10 assists. If he could do that for just one season, I think we would flat out destroy most of the league.

I love Nash, but the ship has sailed on his Houston prospects...

The Spurs should move Tony Parker...

I would easily trade Brooks and other things for Nash, but I doubt the Suns would trade Nash for anything at this point, simply in the same way that the Spurs would never ever trade Duncan under any conditions.

We don't need him for that long. Just long enough to win a championship, i think just getting Nash would be enough to win it all.

    I'd rather trade Brooks.

What do you need Brooks for when you have Nash? Also, there is no good outcome:

    - He plays well and he demands a big contract.
    - He plays poorly and hurts our team.

    Nash/Lowry is a fantastic combo.

I'd give up Brooks and Jeffries for Nash. Straight up. I can see us beating the Lakers easily in a playoff series.

Yao, Miller, Hill, Scola, Hayes, Patterson, Battier, Budinger, Kevin Martin, Courtney Lee, Jermaine Taylor, Lowry, Nash, Ish..

Nash is great, I love the guy, but I would rather stay with what we have, unless Morey can get him for backup players and picks.
