I watched the game tonight on Dish satellite tv where I heard the GSW announcers talking about the trade. One specifically said that he had insider information that told him that Ward would be in a Rockets uniform very soon. I dont know the announcers name but you can take it for what it's worth. I believe him only because he has no affiliation with Houston nor does he care about their affairs. Just what an insider told him and he sounded secure in it.

I was upset when Charlie Ward didnt go to the NFL, but looking back I think he extended his career by choosing basketball.

OK... I'm stupid. If Phoenix cuts him, Phoenix pays him.

Sounds fine to me if he'll sign for nothing.

He certainly should sign for nothing. He already got about 3 mill from NY and if they buy him out he'll get another 3 mill from Phoenix. He'd better be happy with 1-1.5 million from whomever he signs with after that.

    Charlie Ward
    8.7 pts
    4.9 asts
    44% FG%
    43% 3PT%
    23 minutes

    Moochie Norris
    2.9 pts
    1.8 asts
    30% FG
    34% 3PT
    13.7 minutes

You' re accurate in your assesment. Ward is a huge upgrade over Moochie in every area possible.

He made a lot more money too, and he doesn't have to walk around with a limp when he is older because of all the beatings a QB usually takes.

So it would essentially be Moochie for Spoon and a Mormon hater for a Jew hater?

Were those Ward's numbers this season, or career? I really haven't watched the guy much the last 2 or 3 years?

This year's. He's actually picked his game up considerably this year compared to the last couple of seasons, especially in shooting %.

Mr. Mooch, would you like the player Charlie Ward (leaving his comments aside for a moment) on the Rockets?

For the rest of January the ROckets have 7 of their next 11 games on NATIONAL TV. In one spurt of games the Rockets have 4 games in a row on National TV including ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, and TNT.

It's a good month to be a Rocket's fan....(about time to see the games)

Thanks to the Rockets and COX contract, COX in College Station also picks up a number of games.

    Not really. . . . Basically
It would be like Carmelo playing a sport he like as much as basketball
after every team told him he would be forced to Play Center
    instead of his natural position

the NFL was going to try take this Heisman winning Quarterback
and make him into a Receive or a running back
He basically said. . . if he cannot play Quarterback . . .
    he'd play basketball

[Back then there was not so many black quarterbacks. . .
    it was still an anomoly]

I'll second that emotion. Wilks takes care of the ball, really snaps his passes. Rox do well when he plays.

I am very happy with Wilks at this point but to be able to sign ( on the cheap ) a player like Ward would be an upgrade.

Ward would fit nicely in the rotation but only if he comes cheap. If he wants multi- million dollar contract then he can go somewhere else and we can keep Wilks.

Wilks is a younger version of Ward.

Several teams want CW, and many of them could offer him either more cash, a starters position, or a legitimate chance to win a championship this year.

Let's not get our hopes up.

please dont make me read a religous debate while i look for charlie ward updates <begs> :D

besides its offensive content, why does it really functionally matter to the team? is steve francis jewish or something? jeff van gundy would look funny as hell if he wore a yalmuke on the sidelines. as funny as whoever started a thread about yao needs a foo man chu.

Today's New York Times reported that the Suns will probably waive Ward which would free him to play for another team. They also indicated that the Nets are taking a hard look at Ward as a backup for Kidd. But because of cap related issues, he'll have to settle for the minimum.

In the same article they mentioned that because Ward has a house in nearby CT, the idea of him landing with the Nets are pretty good.

Nevertheless, if the Rockets are looking at Ward, he's likely to be interested given the Van Gundy link. Would be interesting to get an experienced PG and potentially moving SFranchise over to the 2 spot.
