Yessir, you are absolutely correct...It's all about drive. Ward doing this shows me he has quite a bit.

    From Heisman.com

    1993 - 59TH Award
    CHARLIE WARD
    FLORIDA STATE BACK

The brilliant and exciting signal-caller from Thomasville, Georgia is the first Seminole player to win the Heisman award. From the first moment of the '93 season, the spotlight focused on Ward, who was considered to be the nation's premier quarterback and the prime candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Ward responded not only with many a marvelous performance at passing and running, but also with the kind of inspired leadership which is present in only the finest of quarterbacks. Analysts noted that the 6-foot 2 inch, 190-pound Ward did much better when lined up in the "Shotgun" formation, wherein he stood some seven yards behind center. This enabled him to get a better view of the defense and to use his phenomenal escape skills to avoid the oncoming defensive linemen. Indeed, he averaged six yards every time he ran with the ball. But it was as a passer that Ward ruined a defense, with an almost unbelievable- near 70 percent- completion average, and the ability to throw the long pass as well as the short. Even in the furiously exciting heart-stopping loss to Notre Dame at South Bend in mid-November '93, Ward still managed some 300 yards passing and came within a whisker of saving the day for the Seminoles. Charlie is the starting point guard for the New York Knickerbockers of the NBA, who selected him 26th overall in the 1994 NBA draft.

How about anyone. How about Wilks. How about someone who would sign for the minimum out of the CBA, or an overseas league.

There are a lot more ways to spend money more efficiently than picking up Ward. That would be an absurd manuever.

Ward is like Matt Maloney. Average at everything. He doesn't have a single exceptional skill, except for avoiding the pass rush and hitting the outlet receiver.

WOW. This is crazy. It's like Camelo Anthony went to play Major League Soccer after winning title for Syracuse, or Jordan went to play baseball after 3 rings in the NBA...

Can we just keep Wilks please?!? lol.. :(

It's good that we are getting Ward though.

We are 6-1 when Mike Wilks plays! ;)

Well, then how about Ward & Stevie at the 1 and 2 with Wilks and Mobley backing them up, repectively?

Okay, first thing that I have to say is that many idiots in the world (I'm not calling you an idiot) think that Israel and Jews are the same. Israel (or isreal in your case) is a country. Many different cultures live in Israel.

Now that's it with the lesson.

I've never been to Israel. I have no desire to (at the moment).

Now going back to Ward's comments; he's an idiot. It's simple enough to say. There is no and will be no argument about his or yours or anyone else's views about Ward's opinions based on blank merit. Who knows where he came up with that. He could have been studying religion for years, or maybe there were a few too many hairs in his soup at the Carnegie Deli.

I just feel his comments were stupid to make and he should keep his views to himself.

And come on, Van Gundy?!?! Oh yeah, it's as Jewish as Rothstein or Goldberg. You were just going for the NY stereotype, weren't you? :p

Actually, Ward was a great player as a quarterback, but was undersized at 6-2 185 for a quarterback. as a point guard for FSU he had a good career as well and he took the right path because he would have been a nobody in the NFL while he has become a decent piont guard in the league. He would have not been great in either league he picked the right sport.

We don't know if the Suns will cut Ward but even if they do he could be picked by another team apart from the Rockets.
We can't assume that Wilks will be either dropped from the team or have his minutes curtailed.

Then let me do it for you Mr Mooch...

    Blazer-ben, YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

All people of the [fill in the blank] race cannot all be [fill in the blank]. And people of that race cannot be blamed for something that some of their ancestors did 2000 years ago.

    Unless you're an idiotic racist.

Dallas Thomas, I would prefer to keep Francis and Mobley starting at their respective positions.Wilks is trying hard and I would like to see him get a chance but having an additional backup PG like Ward might not be a bad idea because of his experience even though he has slowed down over the last few years.

Well, before the last two games, Wilks only played in blowouts. So he didn't exactly affect the outcome of those games.

From what I've seen of Wilks, he's not much of a shooter. Charlie Ward is a good outside shooter that would help open up our inside game of Mo and Yao.

Who said Wilks is going anywhere? Having Ward come to play backup point guard means that he has to be a viable player on the court too. If he tanks the team when he steps on the court, Wilks will get his time. I don't see any negatives from this.
