I personaly know Steve Kerr, he is an ass! I hate him, everyone here (in tucson) loves him for his U of A career, personally if you ever meet him, every Rockets fan will hate him, he just hates on us all the time. I had a conversation with him once, and he kept blowing the Spurs up like there some great Leviathon or something. Sean Elliot is however the exact opposite, great guy, smart, and doesn't discriminate so greatly.

Miller gets more rebounds, assists (by far), and steals, and turns the ball over less than Yao. The only stats that Yao has on Miller are points and blocks, and Miller plays on the better team.

I'm a Yao fan, but I can see the argument for Miller playing.

And 1.8 million people voted Vince Carter in the starting lineup over Jermaine O'Neal. What's your point?

The "better team" argument doesn't work. Miller's the 4th best player on his team. Yao is the 2nd best on his.

A quick and not-so-objective way of comparing the two is to simply trade them for each other straight up. Would the Rockets be better off with Miller instead of Yao? I can't imagine so. On the other hand, is there any reason to think the Kings would suffer if they had Yao instead of Miller? Of course not. Imagine what Yao can do if he has Webber, Peja, Mobley, and Bibby opening up the inside for him. The guy would instantly be unstoppable on offense.

yeah but brad miller is NEVER the focus of a defense. he's great at what he does but the kings have an offense that allows him to sit back and stroke jumpers, which again he is good at.

I see your statement, but Brad Miller is benefiting from his team and the system. He has Chris Webber and Bibby, both amazing passers and Peja to spread the floor. He is also on a very high scoring team, so his percentage of points total makes Yao's scoring even more significant.

He NEVER recieves a double team. Yao constantly deals w/ double teams on a nightly basis and is a focus on offense. Miller cannot post up and is not an option from inside. He is a glorified jump shooter and good rebounder and passer.

Yao creates offense for others, while Miller benefits from others offense.

The fans are right because the allstar game is a popularity contest. It's a meaningless exhibition. Let them see who they want to see in the game. Yao is more popular, and so he plays. That doesn't mean he's better.
SO by that reasoning, Elton Brand should be an All-Star. Because he's the best player on his team, and Yao's the 2nd best player on his?
How do those facts affect Miller's rebounding, his assist totals, his steals, or his lack of turnovers?
How do you explain all of Brad Miller's assists if he doesn't create for others? Dude's a good passing big man, not just a jump shooting finisher.

Look, I think Yao's better than Brad Miller. I think he's more valuable to the Rockets than Miller is to the Kings. I think he's a deserving All-Star. I'm just pointing out that Brad Miller is a good player, and Steve Kerr isn't crazy for making an argument for his inclusion on the All Star game.

IMO, Yao is obviously better than Miller. I watched a lot of games of rox and king this year. From my observation, Miller is very good, but not as good as Yao. However, it is ture that Yao is much more frustrating to watch sometimes.

I think Yao himself said a few days ago, the first year when he was chosen as the starting C in west, he was sort of afraid, he didn't think he deserve it. But this year, he is much more relaxed, partly because he thinks he deserves this honor.

Yao haters can counterargue that Brad Miller is unstoppable so the opponents just quit playing D on him.

I like to swap two players for the sake of comparison. You want compare Yao and Miller, swap them. Yao on Sac king. Miller on rox

Swap Yao and Amare. Yao on Phoenix. Amare with rox.

Miller and Webber are used in King's system as the pivot men in the high post. The ball goes through their hands in numerous occasions and the Kings are one of the only teams in the league that uses the backdoor cut that much.

The opponents never try to stop Miller from getting the ball. On the other hand, the Rockets opponents try their best to prevent Yao from getting the ball and he plays mainly in the low post.

It will be more intersting to compare Miller's assist numbers nowadays to when he was a Pacer or a Bull.

    Does that sound fair?

I wish there could be a category shows how many shots a player alternates on defensive end.

That sounds like the very definition of creating for others. Good passing from the high post is absolutely instrumental in the Kings' attack.
Definitely. Miller's developed into a better passer than he was with the Pacers or the Bulls, but in Miller's worst season with either of those teams he still got more assists than Yao has in his best season. Brad Miller's not some scrub, he's a guy who's made the All Star team in the past and has really developed into a very good player.
