I'm thinking his cancer has come back -- the weight loss was just too drastic.

    :(

Not surprising. With his past medical history and it was pretty clear something was wrong his last few public appearances. Unfortunate.

    Best of luck to him.

I'd be shocked to see him actually come back.

Say what you will, Jobs has been a visionary business man. He's jumped into new markets with no track record and became a major player in each:

    - turned the portable music player into a pop culture icon
    - changed the face of retail music w/ the iTunes store
    - entered the cell phone market w/ many doubters, and took the spotlight w/ the iPhone
    - turned Pixar into a major movie heavyweight

Not to mention reviving Apple's sinking ship after being rehired...I don't think there's many CEO's as meticulous or arrogant as Jobs, or major coporations as single minded as Apple...but he's one of the few who can pull it off successfully.

Anyways, I also doubt he comes back. Hopefully he can enjoy the fruits of his labor and reflect, but it seems like his work at Apple is his life and he wouldn't want to give it up unless he was on his deathbed. I guess we'll see...

It was a rare strain of it, not the 95% lethal kind. Serious, but not as brutal as pancreatic cancer typically is.

It seems like if the problem was a return of the cancer, it would not be as difficult to diagnose, nor would it behoove Jobs or the company to hide it - it would be poor planning, which is neither his nor apple's style. It sounds like a complicated problem that they dont know the answer to. Hopefully, they figure something out for him medically.

I love Apple, and I love Jobs. He's every bit as significant and just full of epic win as Bill Gates. Without those two constantly trying to one-up the other, who knows what our world would look like.

Best wishes to a full recovery.

Admitting I was wrong, I see the stock held up rather well today. Interesting.
