Could Steve be in the MVP race? His numbers across the board look great. Who would be his comp? McGrady? Kidd? Kobe? Duncan?
Hmm......NOT MVP. There are plenty of players who consistently do that. Just look at Kobe. He is almost getting triple-doubles every game. ANYWAYS. WHERE ARE ALL THE STEVE FRANCIS HATERS?!?!?!?!? SOMETIMES...Steve doesn't seem to look around to find open people. There are many open people. But he usually went to the basket. He succeeded in scoring yesterday though. So I am pleased. I'd like Steve to score the same amount of points per game, as in 23.9 ppg not 44 points although that would be nice, have 2 less rebounds per game, but 2 more assists per game...8 GREAT JOB!!!!! They do well in pressure. Sold Out. So many legends.
You seem think that that "Steve haters" bash him for NO REASON. Let's see, if Steve didn't change, or lessen his turnovers, and didn't get his team involved we'd be critizing him just like always. But if he improves. Why complain? That's what we want. We want him to improve. "Steve haters" don't want him to do bad. We want him to do well. Just play the game the right way. Not the "me-me, ISO way." You confuse "Steve Haters" with Non-Rocket fans. Some of us are basketball purist.
DAMNIT! I'm all for Steve, but everytime someone posts a thread like this, it jinxes his next game. Don't get overexcited people!!! Sorry... I'm a wee bit too superstitious...
I dont see how someone could hate Steve. The ratio of dumb things he and Yao do the ratio of dumb things the rest of them do is incredible! Steve knows when to run and when to slow the game down, he has a good feel for the flow of the game. Morons like MoTaylor and Rice always come in and do the dumb things. Think about it-- the Rockets did a lot of stupid things tonight, and they still one, so just imagine what will happen if they all take smart pills?!? They'll be unstoppable! Steve actually passes, the only reason he has to force shots sometimes is because no one passes to him!!
Umm...yesterday night, it seemed like he wasn't passing. He was just looking to shoot. But he had 11 assists, season-high. Our other players have to make their shots if they want Steve to pass to them. Steve will pass to Cuttino Mobley and Yao Ming without being hesitant. EVERYONE LOVES STEVIE FRANCHISE!!! He is the Franchise! He's an All Star!
Yeah well he didn't miss it, did he? He remains Clutch as Clutch can be. And had he missed that 3, he still would have finished 11-20 with 9 assists and would have by no means been the cause of us losing (if we still even ended up losing). You don't get those kind of numbers by playing "selfish", you get them by shooting the ball when you're on fire and dishing the rock to the open man. I don't understand why you're b****ing about him, of all people's play right now. I mean, if you're gonna whine, at least do it during the rare occasion that he actually does suck. Whining after a career night like this and a huge win just makes you seem like a total ass. Just accept that he played awesome and we won BECAUSE of Steve. What the hell more do you want from him? Really, why? Why are you complaining? What do you have against Steve and Cat? Are you one of those infamous Yao-only fans?
It was he and Cuttino, plus many of those shots didn't even get taken. They were simply tunrovers which led to some easy Laker baskets since the defense was non existent then as well. I'm not really b****ing. People want to elevate Steve to a superstar status. He has incredibly amazing moments and his talent is undeniable, he just falls back into some stupid patterns at times. Those patterns will hurt the team. This was a terrific win and that pass to Yao in OT was tremendous. Bottom line, there has to be more passing like that for this team to become a legit contender. Steve made the hard shots last night but they are not always going to fall. As far as calling me a Yao only fan...that is ridiculous. Look under my user name. I'm not a Rocket fan beacuse of you.
Are you saying you don't think Francis is a superstar? I'd easily give him that status, but that doesn't at all mean that his game is perfect, like you seem to want it to be. Really, I think you're just asking too much of him. He shoots pretty consistently well, and he did get 11 assists...
Not yet. He might be a "super star" in the eyes of Houstonians. But not the rest of the world. He has to prove himself in the playoffs. That's where legends are made.
Memo to DCballer It is not a crime to critisize your team leader when it is obvious that he is making the same mistakes from the past. One is not a hater if you demand better ball movement or better decision making from your lead guards. Oh by the way, Steve might have played himself into the US 2004 Olympic team with his prime time national TV spectacular display. A week ago he was considered a bubble guy (outside looking in) but after making Kobe look bad time after time + the fact that he a much more likeable guy than Iverson (another hopeful), Steve might actually be sellected for this honorable mission. Kudos Stevie!
Great game by Steve.....now let's see him do it on the road, or against crappy teams. No more losses to lower tier teams please. Steve...take the leadership role and run with it. DD
Does this thread has its value of existance at all? Every time we win, we have a "Rudy haters where are you" thread? Every time Steve has a great game, we have a "Steve haters where are you" thread? Every time Yao has a great game, we have a "Yao haters where are you" thread? Same goes for Mobley, EG, Mo Taylor, Rice etc etc? Are there really so many "haters" on this board the "lovers" need to point them out every time when given the chance?
I'm not a Francis hater but idiot poster like you will go into hiding when Francis plays poorly again.
Judging from your name, you are a Yao fan? Listen, Yao is good , will b e great, but Francis has nothing to do with it. Yao will be good no matter who is the PG. Oh, and as for Steve's bad games, he seems to make up for it in other ways. He and Kobe arethe only plaayers to averagae 20/6/6 this year; He is one of four players toaverage 20/6/6 in his first four years.
