Anyone who thinks is a good PG is just not an intelligent basketball mind. No doubt Steve is a great SG and could easily rank amongst the best in the league in that department.

Steve is truly too unintelligent and low on the Basketball IQ scale to be an EFFECTIVE PG.

What irks about this debate is people who bring up stats as their sole basis of arguement. How about watching the game and analizing it from a pure and unadulterated point of view? Francis stats will be good for arguement if the topic is 2 guard because to be a good SG you don't have to be smart and a good decision maker.

We will not go anywhere with Francis continuing on this headless chicken-like rampage void of direction, intention and purpose.

We need a true PG. But if we cannot get that we need players on the court that can spare Francis from having to creat and setup his teammates

Of course, Steve gets more playing time with Mooch on the team.

:D Hey, anyone still remember PJ Carlisemo who organized & facilitated the workout for Yao just before the 2002 NBA draft? He and couple other GM scouts said Yao run the floor amazingly like a 6'5". :p I suppose those folks were just bunch of liars, huh?

Maybe in a workout that he had been preparing for with nobody guarding him he could, but with people hanging all over him for a year mimxed with his lackluster conditioning, he can't.

agreed, when Yao fails to get position, he tries to help the guards by setting a high pick and roll...so hopefully he'll learn (which of course he will) how to get better position and make the passed easier for the other players...we need hakeem to teach him not that ewing!

That's interesting. I remember Yao once said Snow is his
favorite PG.But I believe that was said before his going
to Houston and playing with Steve. Donno if he ever changed
    his mind since.

I'm just wondering if two guys (talented both but ill matched
together) will prevent each other from fulfilling potentials.
Will every talent finally lead to success? Or some are bound
    not to flourish.

Maybe so but you have to admit that the clock is certainly ticking on the "Franchise's" ability to "get it".

We all hope so for our Teams sake! At last nights game there wasn't any evidence that he or any of the other Guards are grasping it! JVG hasn't insisted on taking the 'I' out of Team. Till he does the Guards will continue to attempt in taking low percentage shots and failing to pass off to the open man driving to the basket.

While I was frustrated at other threads singling out Yao responsible for the loss last night, I am equally upset at singling out Francis for the loss either. Yes, generally speaking Francis did not play well last night. He was not too bad in comparison with others. In fact, Francis has come along in the previous five games for the most part in distributing the ball. Just one game (in particular when he was panicking at the stuff that Grizzlies threw at him and Yao) would not reverse all the improvements he has made so far.

Well be patient. If there is still obvious weaknesses in our guards position after ten games, then we can start this thread again. But look at other positions, the PF, the SF, and even the Centre. Are we sure that we don't need help there?

    :)
