We should bring him here so that he can teach Brooks and Lowry how to dribble out the shot clock...but with heart.
I disagree, if he is back to at least 75% of his previous self when on the Rockets, he could easily steal a roster spot as a backup point guard. If during the season he is back to being an elite talent, there would be a high demand for him in 2010 since no way he gets a contract for more then a one year deal.
His game was based 100% on talent. His basketball IQ was so low it was probably in the negatives. Once the injury bug bit and the athleticism faded, he was exposed for what he is, a dumb****, a dip****. He was the main reason the Rockets never made past the first round despite talented teams. Hes done. Career is over.
Lavar Arrington show??? wow Who would have thought after that accident he would give up football that quick. Steve Francis is done. Once the Blazers bought him out that proved it right there. He had one good game after that. Once after the suns game he probably realized that he couldn't do it no more.
He may be done, but what do you mean talented teams? Cato/Taylor/Moochie are great role players to you?
Care to make a tip jar wager? $20 says Steve doesn't play in the NBA regular season this year. If he makes a team and plays in a regular season game I contribute $20 to the clutchfans tip jar in your name. If he doesn't then you contribute $20 to the clutchfans tip jar in my name. SF3 is done.
Of course Steve Francis is done, he is already 32 and his entire game was based on athleticism. The man had no real moves besides dribble, crossover, dunk. He is DONE.
I'm one of biggest SF3 fans, so this isn't a knock on him, but seriously...I don't see how anyone could go from "Not producing, not playing, broken down, mopey" = $30 million to "Work my butt off really hard" [maybe]= $2 million If he makes a comeback, it's definitely not for the money!
Yes. Steve hurt his knee packing up his turnovers and wasted shotclock seconds on his way to Orlando. Knowing that the team that irresponsibly gave him the keys to the franchise saw that he was severely overrated, and that he wouldn't be able to con his new employer into signing scrubs like Moochie and T-Mo to unwarranted bloated contracts simply destroyed his BBIQ. It's a shame really...
I have always been a fan of the Franchise and was hoping he would join the team and be a 10th man type guy who got chances when others were not doing their jobs. It is pretty clear that he is shot. His lack of confidence has really shown in the chances he was given. His ability to do things he used to do have shown they no longer can be found. Everytime he got a chance I think he felt like he had to do something special to get another chance and that hurt as well because he was pressing to show something. Always a fan of his but it just is not going to happen for him again.
How do you know? He could have blown through most of his cash (happens to a lot of athletes) and it isn't as if he can make 7 figures doing anything else...even if it is low seven figures (can't believe I just typed "only low 7 figures) It could also obviously be a desire to play or boredom or not knowing how to do anything else...who knows? Regardless, he basically stole $5mm from our team for two seasons...and that's probably what will happen if anyone else signs him. Appreciate what he did in his first stint on the team, but he was always a bad decision maker who relied on freakish athleticism...and well, the freakish athleticism has been decimated by leg injuries...which makes him average at best
it's funny how the demise of steve francis isn't exactly known. was it injuries? but francis was never an injury prone player. was it tendinitis? we've seen tons of players with tendinitis be more than serviceable players. or perhaps it was his unwillingness to transition from "star" player to role player. maybe he couldn't handle not being able to jump out of the gym anymore. but i still remember him throwing down a nasty dunk during a preseason game for us.
I would love it if Stevie Franchise could make a comeback. Still got much love for one of the most exciting small guards in recent history to play the game.
