Well, Rafer had a couple run-ins with the law and actually ended up having one of his best seasons as a Rocket. So if history repeats itself, Francis is going to have one surprising season :p.

of course. drunk driving kills. i completely agree. but i was focusing in on the insulting foreigners part specifically for illimatic because hes a son of foreigners and he's fine with his role model insulting them.

btw illimatic, nas wouldnt be happy if he saw your post.

Poor thing let me get you a tissue. I'm willing to bet that you have said something offensive to someone in your lifetime. Does that make you a bad person? I was in the military and have been around alot of races, and been to many countries. Foreigners are the worst because they are very blunt on how they feel about Americans. Now if this story is true and Steve said all those things, he was very wrong in doing so and should have went back to apologize. But if we can actually sit down and say that we have never said anything offensive to anyone about their race, gender or physical apperance only then i feel that it's ok for us to judge someone on their actions. Probably everyone on this board has said or done some things that they aren't proud of, does this make us bad people, no, it makes us human. Certain situations make us say some things that we didn't mean or regret.

On another note, i hope steve can contribute to the team this year. I think he can give us that scoring option off the bench if his knee is healthy. We all know there is a move to be made, so we will have to see who will still be here. I am not ready to turn the second unit to Brooks just yet. Steve should get playing time with the starters, maybe even finish the game but I think Rafer should be the starter. If Steve can split the minutes with Rafer and be productive in his time, we will get out of the first round. but i still don't feel we are championship material, but i hope i'm wrong.

Damn, talk about taking e-bravado to new heights. I don't know if the alleged incident has any truth to it, but it speaks volumes about you that your umbrage in the matter is regarding a potential suspension rather than a purported crime. Pathetic.

How come the arrest wasn't on the news? Rafer cases were on the news in a heartbeat. And anything you say when your drunk, is irrevelant.

And to the member who posted saying it makes sense that Francis would curse a foreigner cause rockets picked one over him, please go advanced search on google and look at the amount of influence he had for Yao. I wouldn't be suprized if many Chinese rockets fan have Francis as their 2nd favorite player.

Maybe Francis will send you guys some candy and flowers, tissue and a autographed twenty dollar bill?

Hakeem is King!, Unfortunately I missed the Malone era. But Stevie, is and will always be one of my favorite Rockets.

I second that! I was also pissed and here we are.

I just hope Francis gets his crap together and can help, but I am doubtful.

For those of you who think Francis is above this type of thing....remember the Super Bowl?

Yep, he put that ahead of his team committments....Steve is hardly a saint.

In case someone needed an example of Hatred
    I present you . . . Exhibit A

    Rocket River
. . his hatred of foreigners was why he wanted Jay Williams over YAO
    . . .oh wait. . he didn't. . . . plus he been having Yao's back for years
    but . . wait. . .i'm confused now. . that does not compute . . .
he hates foreigners but loves yao . . . but .. .

Actually the blind love given to Francis by the few in this thread is what's really pathetic. It's one thing to dream that he will be a surprise next season or even choose to remain realistic with the changes of it happening. Quite another to put Franics above the team because of your man love for him and excuse that kind of behavior. I still remember him not being on the bench to support the team in all but one game at home in last year's playoff series. That was pathetic too. DD is right, he is no saint.

Hope he gets his act together ... on the court as well as off it. He would help us a lot . I still remember the Phoenix game early in the season and the passion he played with.

When the lights go off and the cameras turn off, a person's true character is revealed. You can continue to keep your head in the sand though and remain ignorant.

Oh come on RR, you know I side with the players almost 100% of the time, but in this case he basically thumbed his nose at the team.....

Francis is hardly a saint, I know you like him a lot, and I want him to succeed too, but that does not mean we can ignore the fact that his attitude has been part of the problem.

I am rooting for him though......trust me, I would be happy as a clam if he came back and was the old Francis.....

    Time will tell.....

Good to hear. I'd love to see Stevie make a positive contribution to the team, and I still believe he's capable of it.

Boo hoo hoo, get over it. Definitely i do not condone stevie insulting a foreigner or drunk driving. But most people on here are making out as if stevie is racist and he hates foreigners. Sports is an occupation where you have co workers from different backgrounds (unless you play in Utah), Stevie has played with different people from different ethnicities and tho this doesnt make him immune to racism-- i honestly doubt he is.

I'm not calling your cousin a liar but im sure if such an event occured where stevie used a racial slur and got taken by a HPD officer, it shoudl be in the news. If not, your cousin should call ESPN or even Houston Chronicle to sell this story.

I used to manage a valet spot downtown and it was very frustrating to sometimes to watch this supposedly superstars come thru and treat my boys like crap (Barkley and Chris Rock are nice folks and tip good). And this puts a chip on the shoulders of some valet drivers, but like my boss once told, if you dont like a job that involves customer service, get a job that does not involve dealing with humans.

If stevie used a racist slur, then he is definitely wrong but until i see a definite proof apart from your cousin, or a neighbor or "he say she say". If Rafer's little argument with the valet folks made the news, i don't see why this would't if it is real. I will not put him down like most people who are just looking for an excuse to pounce on someone or hate cos he got the car and you are the valet. Move on

Steve Francis.. I'd say expect him to play alright... not poorly... not great... just alright. We expect a lot from him and we expect too little.

Now, I call this a rational explanation. It's incredible how quickly people judge somebody over a rumor with no proof behind it.

I actually believe that Steve Francis' career peaked, the first year he was with the Magic. Just watching some of the highlights from back then, he was almost unguardable. He has his best season numb ers-wise too that year, I think.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UbuffC0gc-Y&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UbuffC0gc-Y&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The Magic team of that year where actually pretty good with Francis, Mobely, Cato, G. Hill, and D. Howard.

This little side story aside - I dont think that the fact that I think he's through as a consistent scorer means I am a "hater" or want him to fail - I would love to see him play well and carry my Rockets to the second round... AND BEYOND!!!

However, I unfortunately watched way too much Knick basketball since I moved here to NYC and when Stevie was here....well...he sorta sucked.

Maybe it was the system. I once worked for a disfunctional organization and I found myself tempted to mail it in more than once or twice a week. I've also worked for idiots before (maybe not as idiotic as Isiah, but still)

And for those of you who fell in love with the Rockets because of Steve and Cat and their ISO nightmare....man, I feel sorry for you kids...I hope you are enjoying the more interesting offenses our Rockets have used in the past few years. I had season tickets back in the Steve and Cat Show days and man, it was some frustrating hoops.
