I think SF has a good chance of making an impact OFF THE BENCH this year. I just dont think he gels well with our starting 4. His a great scorer but not a great set up play maker. he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. although a combo of artest-francis .. dunno  . Alston shoots the 3 better which is more important with yao and tmac.
I think SF has a real good chance because in the limited games he played last year he acutally played alrgiht

For a guy his height to be dunking like tat. His almost dunking from as far out as tmac does and tmac is 6-8... ouch hope he has more finesse in his game now.

If he dosent come ready into training camp, he is in trouble. even by his own admission he wont be fully ready till a couple of months into the season. things dont look great for him.

I've heard the two guys that have "looked good" pre-training camp are Mike Harris and Steve Francis. Those two, along with T-Mac and others have been working out at the TC. Take it for what its worth.

Stevie shave off that extra weight and constantly in the gym fighting for the spot. I really think that Steve will get his time behind Alston and Tmac.

He is actually sitting at 195 pounds and very thin. It's the knee surgery that worries me. I really hope he can overcome it and be a valuable contributor to this team. If he does it would be awesome.

It would be best if doesn't try to come back too soon. Losing weight and being in game shape are not the same. I would rather see a game ready Steve in the second half of the season.

I think what he is referring to is the following statement by our Director of Player Development:

"Tell you what, it was impressive; he shot the ball very well. I was only with him one day since he’s obviously been rehabbing. But for his first day back in the gym, he had a lot of makes, let’s put it that way. And you always like to see that for a guy in one of his first days out. But he had a real good attitude, came with a good effort and shot the ball real well."

Basically, he was saying that Francis looked good "for his first day back". He wasn't saying that Francis looked better than other players. According to the article, he's only worked with a handul of players so far.

that video ^ reminds me of when he say Dwight is better than Yao when he was still in Orlando. Wonder if he still thinks that... but hope he can still play. ;)
