You know, at this point, I really don't care who the focus of the offense is going to be anymore. I just want the rockets to run something that actually resembles an offense. Steve should be able to get more than 1 assist just by accident.

    This is nothing new.

Steve has had the worst assist to turnover ratio among point guards the last 2 years!.

He's also been among the top 2 in most turnovers the last 2 years.

I base my judgement on Steve based on this one stat alone. I don't look at wins or losses, the type of system the Rockets play, the players around Steve or anything of that stuff. I ONLY look at this one particular stat, and I believe that Steve is the 47th best PG in the NBA.

It doesn't matter that the team has +45 scoring ratio when Steve is on the floor, only that his assist to TO ratio is low. HE's the absolute worse, a trade for any other PG at all would be a step up.

Isn't that a bit myopic? I judge a point guard like I might judge a starting QB. I don't isolate stats like QB rating or number of interceptions or passes completed; I look at strictly wins and losses. So I'll take the 47th best PG in the NBA if he's the leader of a team with a winning record. This isn't fantasy league.

Upon second reading, I think I completely missed FB's sarcasm.

At least I hope that's sarcasm.

I would trade Francis for Nash, straight up. He knows how to run an offense and his defense isn't really much different than Steve. Unfortunately, I don't think Dallas would do that.

Moving him to the 2 will not be any good. I'd much rather have Cuttino with the smaller contract than Francis at the max.

Most turnover prone players in the league this season (per 48), A/T ratio is the second number...

    1 Paul Pierce, BOS 5.7
    2 Chris Kaman, LAC 5.6 0.38
    3 Earl Watson, MEM 5.3 1.78
    4 G. Arenas, WAS 5.1 1.38
    5 Raul Lopez, UTH 5.0 1.95
    6 Lamar Odom, MIA 4.9 0.97
    7 Steve Nash, DAL 4.8 2.32
    8 Tim Duncan, SAS 4.7 0.78
    9(T) Steve Francis, HOU 4.6 1.25
    Dwyane Wade, MIA 4.6 1.30

Kind of surprising to see Lopez up there.

FWIW, Moochie is number 36 in the league w/ 4.0 TO/48 and Yao is number 38 in the league w/ 3.9 TO/48.

Mobley is actually really good in this category, he's 123rd in the league w/only 2.6 TO/48.

So if Mobley handles the ball more...less turnovers?

Put some of the blame on JVG's lame offensive schemes...

I vote for JJ as point forward ala Rodney Mc Cray...

First off, I agree Nash for Francis would make the Rockets better, Nash is not a better player than Francis in general. You send Francis to a sucky team and Nash to a sucky team and Francis makes that team better than Nash does. Francis proved a couple of years ago pretty much all by himself he can make a sucky team respectable. Nash however is enhanced by being around other good offensive players--thus for the right (good offensive) team Nash is better.

Francis has his shortcummings, but he also is potentially a 24-6-6 1 man wrecking crew on a crappy team. He would instantly increase the potential win total by the Clips, Hawks, Heat, Knicks, Bulls and Cavs by at least 15 games, that is major, and few young players can make that kind of difference.

That is why I think a trade for like Francis for Brand might work. Francis with crap (Clips) is a better, more entertaining, more ticket selling, better team than Brand with crap (Brand is a great all around player, but struggles to carry a team's offense)--but Brand just might make the Rockets better.

WE've been talking about Steve's Turnover / Assist ratio for the last four years. Lets get over it. Seriously. We're not going to trade him, he's our point guard for the rest of the contract.

    People, get over it.
