    If SF3 has more talent and was been hurt by injuries, how can AB have more upside?

    I think you mean to say he is more of an unknown

    In all fairness to Steve, I do think he can hit the running teardrop at a higher clip than Rafer, in shape or no.

    This would be a valid topic if Steve Francis wasn't a better player than Rafer Alston, but he is.

    My mistake, I meant Steve Francis is a better player than Rafer Alston. I don't see how any rational person could disagree with that.

    Orlando didn't want him. That is why they traded him for Penny Hardaway's contract. Steve got thrown away in a salary dump.
    Yep, and that would be team #2 that didn't want him. When a player takes a leave of absence, that team doesn't want him anymore.
    That changes nothing. The team doesn't save money by cutting Steve, they don't get more salary cap space. The only thing a team gets for cutting a player is an extra roster spot. So Portland wanted Steve less than they wanted Darius Miles, James Jones, Steve Blake, Jarret Jack, or anyone else on their roster. James Jones, for example, is a career under 40% shooter. Darius Miles is a crazy drunk. When a team would rather keep Darius Miles and pay you 30 million bucks to go away, that means they dumped you.

    The only team that Steve has played for that didn't dump him was the Rockets. They traded him for a better player. This time around though, the Rockets will join the list of teams that dumped him, more likely than not.

    Rafer= Trent Dilfer
    Steve= David Carr

    Yeah, Steve is more talented. But Rafer at least gives you a chance to win.

    One player hasn't been cut by two teams or benched indefinitely, while missing the most recent game due to personal reasons that are unknown, isn't out of shape, and is starting for the Houston Rockets, whether its justified or not.

    I don't get the Francis defenders mentality. You act as those Adelman has a vendetta against him or that he doesn't want this team to be better if Francis in fact would be an upgrade for the team. This is Adelman's first season as head coach for the Rockets so you know he wants to upgrade the team as much as possible, but Francis doesn't provide that.

    I'm not saying Francis is out of the rotation permanently but right now he's not playing for a number of reasons. He's even more of a liability to the team than Alston, James, and Brooks. That may not be the case by seasons end but for now that much is true.

    I'd like to see Francis get some playing time, but only after he's earned it. And I'll trust Adelman's judgment when that time comes over any posters here on this BBS.

    What two teams cut Francis? I believe only Portland bought him out.

    Rafer Alston is a street baller who has been unable to make a successful transition to organized basketball. I think this is a fairly safe statement - Rafer's play over the years has proven this. On the other hand, Steven Francis is a proven NBA player, who can do things that neither MJ nor Rafer can do, such as penetrate, create shots for himself and others, finish at the rim, and rebound. I'm pretty sure Francis would shoot a better % than Rafer as well even though most of Skip's shots are wide open.

    Just look at the 1st quarter of tonight's game. What has Rafer done? He's 0 for 2, couldn't catch a loose ball that came right to him, and passed it to Yao, who was running full speed at the free throw line when Scola was wide open under the basket, which led to a turnover. Why would you want Rafer in the game?

    Luther Head playing like crap, Rafer playing like his usual self, and MJ in a shooting slump.

    Is it time yet?

    Hey Guys! We're 6-2! We don't need to make any changes!! Obviously Rafer is better than Francis if we're 6-2! Don't change what works!

    :rolleyes: How many more games of pitiful guard play must we watch for you Rafer lovers to change your tune?
