Um.... no. Steve Francis takes all of the bad aspects of Rafer and Mike James, poor shooting, poor defense, ballhogging, and suspect decision making, and rolls it into one ugly out-of-shape washed up package.

Francis was once a above-average PG. BUt I think the thing that affected Francis the most was the McGrady trade, probably tore him up inside. Leaving Yao, and his home was too much for him. Then when his lover, Cuttino, got traded to Sacramento, he probably had no meaning in life anymore. He was just a soulless body drafting from town to town.

I don't think it is francis's fault that hes getting no playing time. He should just retire with all that money from Portland and do what he feels happy about.

Out of love for Steve, I say we give him a shot at Rafers and/or Luthers minutes. If he doesn't work, then let him do the DNP-CD thing for the rest of the year.

right because above 40% fg avg is worse than rafer's 35%
because Francis avg 6 assts and rafer only 5
because mike james doesn't ballhog
again get a clue and use facts not ur own personal bias

Francis has all the qualities we don't want to see out of Alston and James. He is a poor shooter and can't guard anyone. He hogs the ball, dribbles the ball off his foot out of bounds, and makes questionable decisions with the ball. His only redeeming value (creating off the dribble and getting to the rim and finishing) are severely compromised since he is out of shape and old. He really doesn't have much value to the team and he will soon become a team cancer; the setup of a Bonzi/Spanoulis situation is already there. I'd rather see Aaron Brooks get a shot.

right because being 30 years old is older than rafer and mike james
Because Johnathon Feign of the Chronicle has already stated he is in shape
because you responded to my post with the same bull from your og post
because your arguements lack any proof
because he is still a better shooter than rafer
because your arguements suck :D
because he can still play

Then why did Clutch say that the Rockets told SF to get working on a conditioning program and Steve sandbagged it?

Why did SF look so bad in the preseason?

Why is he NOT GETTING ONE SECOND of PT even though Alston can't shoot, Mike James is having trouble drawing rim on his shots, and Luther Head is just not doing anything?

Why did THREE teams dump SF for nothing, including Portland, who paid him $30 mil to GTFO?

There are reasons why SF is not playing, and they're all on SF. It's not like he hasn't flaked before (Super Bowl, anyone?)

The all-star thing is and always has been nothing more than an illusion. He got to do what he wanted, when he wanted, with the ball in his hands with no limitations. He put up good numbers and made flashy plays, but not in a system that was capable of winning big. He was popular because of his highlights and street-baller persona, kind of like Iverson, though he wasn't half the player. Then Yao came, and that helped his popularity even more.

When you think about it, we have to be one of the luckiest franchises in the league over the past 5 years. We had Francis, Cuttino, and pretty much nothing else worth mentioning. We managed to parlay them both into Tmac while Francis's stock was still high (at least in Weisbrod's mind). We unloaded him right before his athleticism started to wane. We owed him tens of millions of dollars. And we totally lucked out on Yao. Without those two moves, we'd be in perennial lottery hell and among the worst teams in the league. We probably would have been in the running for Durant.

We should be thanking our lucky stars for being as good now as we are. Even though we haven't won a playoff series yet, at least we are in the running every year.

When given minutes in New York,20-7-7.............
If anyone watched that Laker series, there is no way you can deny the guy has got game. If Yao would have been half the player he is now, we would be singing a different tune....
yeah decent reasons
except the whole flake thing....like rafer wasn't intoxicated in public and didn't stab a guy.....HAVE WE FORGOTTEN THAT????
except that three teams didn't dump him....NYK really wanted him from Orlando..... #1
the coach changed in NY and had a problem with steve...... #2
portland was rebuilding and had to relocate randolph who was their very good franchise player for a few years and they couldn't disrespect him buy just buying him out and thus showing they have no care for their players
(and it was too much money)....thus they traded him for francis who was a outside guy who they could cut without any cries from the fans..........
but yes right now it is up to steve

I believe this is what will happen as well. I think francis is out the door by december. Brooks has way more upside.
