You don't seem totally irrational. But

    1. "largely useless but . . . is working"?
    2. "that doesn't mean a social revolution would make everything better": agreed!!!!!!!! Now tell that to Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party. They killed millions of Chinese for the revolution that they love so much. The TV is flooded with shows praising the revolution. I got it: the revolution stops when the CCP takes power.
    3. Wow, it's so understanding of you to accept western countries' economic advice. It's really useful for western countries (and people from Shanghai and Beijing) to buy clothes and toys made by cheap Chinese workers. Now how about taking western advice and revaluing the renminbi. . . . Who are these "Chinese people" who care about comparative advantage? The Chinese peasants who are on the bottom of the "comparative advantage" or the Chinese bosses who are on the top of the "comparative advantage"?
    4. Jehovah's Witnesses also refuse medical help. Everyone wants political power. You mean Falungong want to be kings? Jerry Falwell blamed 9/11 on America's "sins." Trying to stop donations shouldn't be illegal. You just don't understand what American religious freedom is. In the U.S., all the things you listed do not justify shutting down a group that calls itself a religion. Just say Chinese have less religious freedom and stop there.
    5. Japan: hated by China since the 1940's; South Korea: China's enemy in the Korean war--you should be studying North Korea; Taiwan: not even recognized as a country (DID YOU JUST CALL TAIWAN A COUNTRY???). Yeah, be like the countries you hate.
10-11. Go to Tibet and find out. Try Mongolia and Xinjiang while you're at it.

    1. yes, lawyers are useless but legal system is working
    2. we are discussing modern china, an average chinese citizen understands the revolutions of the past did no good to china such as the cultural revolution, the communist defeat of the natioanlist is another story, a civil war
3.what's so hard to understand, there are rich and poor ppl in every country, and by following the current model, china has a fast expanding middle class and everyone is getting better off, are the workers being mistreated? of course, so are walmart workers and macdonald burger flippers
    4. don't go off topic, strictly talking abt fa lun gong, i do not see any major religions today tell their believers to set themselves on fire in demosntrations, and no, you do not hear christian church in the US asking for political power
    5. so what if countries are hated by china? doesn't mean there's nothing to learn from them, so u think china should starve and go mad with nuclear weapons like north korea? everyone strives to get better, and it's not my personal feelings, it's the direction that china is heading toward, i don't hate japan, korea, nor taiwan, you may dislike some of their policies, but it's ignorant to just hate a country
    10. yeah my family members went to tibet last year and i had the opportunity to visit mongolia, seem like an advice you should give to yourself

    2. What gives you the right to talk for "the average Chinese citizen"? Let's hear more about you. Who are you?
    3. The existence of WalMart workers in America has nothing to do with China. I'm telling you economic inequality is growing extremely quickly and irrevocably and if you really love China you should be worried about this.
    4. It's not off topic. Other countries have more religious freedom, that's all. Buddhists and Quakers have set themselves on fire (http://www.popartuk.com/music/rage-against-the-machine/rage-against-the-machine-pp0268-poster.asp), and their religions were not outlawed for this reason.
    5. Great, learn from Japan, South Korea and the country of Taiwan. I agree that China should do so.
    10. Been to Tibet. Been to Xinjiang. (You forgot the Uyghurs murdering the Hans.) You're simply full of BS if you claim Tibetans like the Han government of Beijing.

Sucks about Francis. Reportedly he had a cold during his short tenure in China, but he also skipped practice on Christmas Day and left his last game after the first half because he wasn't getting playing time. Lest respect for the dude after reading that.

    Really? Seriously?

Yeah I'm sure it's ok with all Rocket fans if our players start flipping people off in the public.

    2. i don't have the rights, but you can look up surveys and studies done on chinese citizens, they are published every now and then, and yes I was a middle class chinese citizen in a medium sized city in northern china
3.of course it has nothing to do with china, it's for comparison only, there are disadvantaged ppl in every country, economic disparity is huge but it may be the best it can be at the moment, do you have a solution? redistribute wealth ? another land reform?
    4. i never said other countries do not have religious freedom, but so does china, monks have set themselves on fire in protest before however what religion have you heard that the "prophet" encourges ppl to do so? encourges ppl not to take medications and not allowing children undercare to take medications?
    5. haha i like the emphasis on the country of taiwan, taiwan doesn't become a country nor become a province just because you or I say so, it is a de facto independent governing state lacking recognition in the international community
    10. i don't think we can come to reconciliation on this one, however, given nowdays Han's in Xinjiang is approaching 50% of the population, very unlikely anything will change from the way it is today

Here is another one straight from China's government regarding corruption...

Quote:" Policemen walk on the grounds of the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court in Shanghai on March 22. China has admitted its corruption problem is "still very serious" and pledged to work harder to crush widespread official graft and win the public's confidence."

It doesn't sounds like Chinese citizens are so confident with their government after all...

has china sent any troops to anywhere in recent decades beside peace keeping troops under UN? has china launched any pre-emptive strikes? does china has the largest military spending as the country of the largest population? has china sought peaceful solutions to solve border disputes since it's opening in the 70s? peaceful rise, it's right.

and to answer your other question, http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/jul/25/china
i am not sure how reliable this source is, i just googled if chinese citizens are satisifed with govt etc. this was the first link that poped out on google, every now and then you can find a similar report in western newspapers

simply put, i think each country needs to respect the sovereignty of other countries since the culture and beliefs are vastly different, what's best for one country may not be the best for another, chinese govt can certainly learn from western democracies but that doesn't mean western democracies know what's the best for china or are more capable of governing a country as diverse as china than the current chinese govt
