Yeah ... you'd think this thread was started in response to some good news about the economy or Iraq, the way people are rushing to discredit the info ...
It is mind-boggling to me why people are pissed at him ranked #1 in PG. It just simply means his trade value spiked up in the post season. Everything is fine...
If his performance somehow makes his trade value go up, then it was definitely a good thing. Although somehow, I doubt it. I don't see people really bashing Steve here, for those of you annoyed. It's just people trying to put things in perspective, because 5 games obviously doesn't mean anything. Because if it did, we'd be shopping Yao Ming around and trying to reach a max-extension for JJ right now. So yes, we all congraulate Francis for his performance, but it's not that big of a deal. On a side note, it's strange how people keep giving props to Francis for his playoff performance, yet still bash JVG for how to run the offense. JVG's ability to exploit that Francis/Payton matchup hardly seemed to register in the minds of this BBS members. It seems to me that JVG should get lots of credit for devising the gameplan, and Francis credit for executing it fairly well.
I'm gonna go start a thread that simply says something positive about America, family, butterflies or babies...and see how long it takes for people to start bashing the subject. I mean, what's the point? Somebody just wanted to pass on a positive bit of info...what's there to be upset about?
Why do people automatically assume that when someone questions the legitimacy of the list, he must be motivated by hating Francis? I go to Sportsline.com all the time. I haven't read the player ranking for a long long time because I felt that the basic assumption of the ranking was flawed. It has nothing to do with Steve hating.
Perhaps if he had played up to his potential during the regular season we wouldn't have had to face the #2 team in the West. And we might even.. dare I say.. have had homecourt advantage?! Surely i'm dreaming..
Steve did a good job in the playoffs and he deserves credit for it. He also showed a lot of guts but he lacks the natural ability to be a PG along with his fundamental weaknesses which is very difficult to overcome. His trade value is better than before but I wonder if many GM's would like to give up quality team players in return. That's why he needs to get help with a better PG/SG like Brent Barry who can play along with him on the court in my opinion.
