Honestly Steve did great in the playoff stats wise and nonstats... and I don't think anyone here can really argue that. I mean yeah he made a couple mistakes, but not really much. The team as a whole made too many mistakes. If you really watched the games, had the rest of the team played half as well as Steve it would have been atleast 3-1 our way heading into LA. And we'd all be praising steve... And of course when you play 5 good game you are going to have better looking stats then those whose played more game to screw up in....

Buttom line when it was time to show LA who's who... Steve and MO brought their A game, and JJ, Cat, and Definitly Yao had gotten lost in the mix.

You don't think all of the SOF's are going to say "don't trade him, he was the best player in the playoffs"?

Fact: The #1 rating was PG's only.
Fact: Dirk Nowitski is the #1 ranked C.
Fact: The rating system is some form of an efficiency rating which has Dwayne Wade ahead of Baron Davis, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Sam Cassell and Chauncey Billups.
Fact: The #1 PG rating was achieved in a single playoff series where Francis torched the #15 (Payton) and #19 (Fisher).

"Hate" or trying to determine the merit of the #1 rating? If Dwayne Wade would have averaged less than one more FG and dished out 1.7 more assists on a team struggling to score, he'd have been #1. Nice award, nice side note but it's not like Francis made the All NBA team.

Frankly, I do not need the ranking to know SF did great in the playoff. Heck, anytime you are 19-8-8, you are doing your job superbly.

How did we lose? Well, Lakers have the 3rd and 4th best performers while we have th 6th and 21th best performers (Yao is 41th, BTW).

Because Phil Jackson single covered all of the Rockets the entire series. But after going down 2-0 vs SA, Jackson double teamed both Duncan and Parker forcing the Bowens, Hedos, Rashos and Ginobilli's of the world to beat him. They obviously didn't.

You can learn a lot from stats, but watching the games helps, too. ;) :D

Not suprising. He clearly is our best player. It's funny how Parker got shut down for the remaing 5 games in the LA/SA series by the same guard combo that Francis lit up.

But Parker is waaaayyyy better.

The thing that makes Steve almost irreplaceable is the toughness with which he plays. Push Parker a little and he breaks. Francis will push back!

It's completely understandable why he's #1 for PGs, as you keep watching the playoffs. Unlike Parker, he abused and abused the heck out of the "Glove". He was a triple double threat almost every night.

    Way to go Franchise!!

I don't take much stock in that rating, so I'll also point out that Steve only played 5 games.

They WERE 5 good games for Stevie, though. He had a TERRIFIC series. Too bad no one else stepped up.

Why would you want to find every way you can to criticize the statistics? Throw the statistics out and recall the games I know you watched. Francis played great in that series and was the reason we were competitive. It seems like some will do whatever they can to forget that.

That's fine by me though. Wade has consistently been a big factor for a team that has surprised a few people in the playoffs.

I'm a little confused in your post, are you saying the facts are not right?

Dirk played C for the Mavs in the playoffs, Nelson used "smallball"

Yes, Dwayne Wade is ranked ahead of all those guys, because he played better than all those guys. He has been unbelievable.

Even though the #1 is for PG only, that is still GREAT.
#6 overall, he's in company with Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, etc...SF stepped up HUGE in the playoffs, whether it was because GP and Fisher couldn't stop him or whatever, he was still unbelievable.

Yay for OUR ROCKETS. Good to see OUR PLAYERS getting some props. But, if you'd rather see a player from the Lakers or Spurs ranked higher than someone from YOUR OWN TEAM, I guess that is your business.

Yeah.. and then he'll say something to the refs and get T'd up.

Then he'll swear on live tv going into the lockerroom and get suspended.

Then he'll come out in the second half and committ 6 TO's because he's frustrated.

donny why do it hurt that Francis did well in the playoffs and a nation media source is giving him props for it? Are we Rocket Fans or just fans of certain players?

I remember I read an explanation of the ranking (probably about a couple of years ago) but I can't find it on the site now.

They give different categories different weight according to the player's position. For example, a center's assist number is weighed more than a PG's. A guard's rebounding is weighed more than a big man's, etc.

The reasoning is that if you can do more than your normal chore for your position, you are supposed to be better than the other guy playing your position. Also, a small player's rebounding is worth more because it's harder for him to get rebounds than a big guy. I think that is the most ridiculous logic. Don't you think you are a better player if you can do well in what your position is supposed to do?
