The reason JVG use Padgett for the pick is that if Spurs double team SF on the pick, that would of free up Padgett for a 3, which is out of Weatherspoon's range.

I haven’t read the whole thread, but I have not seen many people bash Francis for his work ethic. They’re bashing him for his poor decisions during crucial moments of games. Sure, Francis works very hard on the court, but so does Bo Outlaw. That doesn’t mean I want to build my whole team around him.

ill admit i do bash francis left and right. He may have a good work ethic, but it is the dumb plays, low bball IQ, ect.. that makes me not like him.

I don't know who's the hardest working Roeket, but I know keep dribbling out the clock doesn't always equal to hard working. I thought Steve made sacrifice for the team this year and stayed away form bashing him. But his recent actions showed me he is not willing to do that anymore.

is that all he does dribble? What about outhussling TD for 11 important rebounds? Or dishing about 4 crusial assists when they really mattered? He certainly has a lot of down side, and thats arguable, but to say he doesnt try is being biasded, and having hatred.

I don't think anyone's ever said he doesn't "try" to play. I think everyone else here, not wearing SF-colored sunglasses, think he's not trying hard enough (or at least not succeeding) in adjusting his game to fit the circumstances.

"Dishing 4 crucial assists when they really mattered?" No, when it *really* mattered was on that last play of the game. And he did *not* get the assist.

4 assists for our supposed PG, who's not exactly low on playing time, is just a total joke.

Do yourself a favor and look up the definitions of "criticism" and "hatred". You're so busy defending Steve Francis like he's family that you totally lack objectivity.

I don't judge him by one game. He dribbles too much, that's a fact, and he doesn't average 11 boards. Many no name pgs had career nights playing against Rox, does that mean Steve is not defending hard enough? I don't know either.

I didn't say he doesn't try, but I don't know if he is the hardest worker that you assumed he is. Please don't put words in my mouth.

There was another pass that Francis could of made to JJ as he dribbled passed another Padgett pick with about 3 seconds left. It'd of been a cross court pass but no one was even near him that time either. He'd of had a second and a half or so to of had another wide open attempt.

Well he plays for the Kings, but I was referring to another "Doug," Doug Collins. But you knew that. Your vigilance has paid off again! And something else, now I know you are an attorney.

That picture shows exactly why you should make the decision quick and early in times like this.

JJ's man was shadowing him. If Francis passed him the ball, JJ's defender would have enough time to come up to him and JJ would have to rush a shot (still better than Francis' last second prayer, though). What would be good (in normal situations) was for Francis to drive, drawing JJ's man and kick it out to JJ. He'd be wide open for the 3.

The only problem was, there's only 6 sec. left, and we were down by 3. The Spurs knew we had to shoot a 3. So JJ's man wouldn't be drawn. They'd let Francis take a layup and the clock would have less than 5 sec. for a foul and a desperation shot with very little time and no TO. If Francis had made a fast decision to drive to the hoop with more than 10 sec., that would have worked.

the problem with that was, on he earlier to, Van Gundy said for pagget to set a pick for steve, and steve either pass to pagget or take the three. He would be directly disobeying JVG if steve drived in immediatly
