TMac should abuse Fisher too, but he did not. This is NBA, any player can play some games in certain levels, plus Jazz always plays a tough game, and Yao is not Shaq.

exactly. the same reasons why some people say tmac can't lead us, but yet turn around and say yao can lead us.

FACT - he has not dominated ONE SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME. not one where he was truly the shining star of that game.

yao has to show us he can do what he does in the reg. season and translate that to the playoffs. he hasn't done that.

tmac was not completely tmac last yr. trust me, before the last 2 yrs, he LOVED the game winning shot. game 2 in dallas. A LOT of games in orlando. i don't think he ever had that swagger the last 2 yrs b/c of the injuries.

he'll come into this yr in shape and ready to ball. tmac was MAAAD clutch in 04-05. so trust me, he has it. he was just very inconsistent w/ his shot last yr.

Game 2 of the Dallas series. Don't say he hasn't because that is a lie.

It's quite simple, the same way you put your faith that Mac will take the Rockets to the promise land without you actually seeing him do it is the same way some fans believe Yao has it in him to lead. Neither has realized it but it doesn't mean Yao can't or in your case McGrady. Don't act like it's absurd.

I'm pleased to see this article. I'm referring to the interview from media day, and then the interview he gave right after signing with the Rockets this summer. In both instances, they were very lengthy interviews and many questions were asked about sharing the ball, pecking order, playing time etc.

His response was as i couched it -- yao is the No 1 option; little mention of Tmac as the clear 1a. I do wonder if SF will defer "control" of the perimeter to Tmac in terms of primary ball handling/playmaking responsibilities.

no rumors being made up here. just an attempt to peer into the mind of SF based on his comments, or lack thereof. tune out if you don't find this relevant or interesting.

personally, I think it will be an interesting subplot throughout this whole season.

One thing I learned about Steve Francis years ago: ignore what he says, watch what he does.

Last tenure, Francis was an A-1, undisputed, all NBA ball hog. Anyone that won't admit that, is in clinical denial. But that was then. No one ever questioned that Francis was a gifted athlete. My question is what about now? Is he more mature, and can he still play at a high level. Around the basket, Francis was always "lights out" because of his all world hops. He often appeared to be on a pogo stick. Can he still do that? A decent, never great shooter, can he hit the three? I'll watch. If he plays unselfishly, under control, takes care of the ball, and scores and rebounds like he is capable of doing, he will be a significant asset.

^When Francis was with the rockets, a lot of the offense was to pass the ball to Francis, get the hell out of the way, and watch him cross the guy in front of him. Many people, including I, were scared that Francis might think that this was gonna happen again, but i felt better when he acknowledged this in his press conference, and that he was a role player and he would do what he needed to do.

tracy is such a humble dude. for him to say "other guys" are just as talented as he is

cmon tracy, if that's the case, we should roll through the league.

I think you're completely over-analyzing his comments. We'll be fine. Francis knows what he has to do, and he knows he has to do it both to win and to stay welcome here (and I want him to stay welcome here).

I knew the over-sensitive Tmac fans would come out in droves to bash Francis after I read the opening post of this thread, just like how the over-sensitive Yao fans would jump on anyone who says Tmac is the clear No.1 option.

This kinda stuff only worries me if we get off to a bad start. That's when the finger pointing and back stabbing will start (if it does at all). But everything Francis has said so far makes me think that he is prepared to make sacrafices.

If that happens I would call that a Basketball Born Again Experience (it won't get you into heaven but it might get us to the finals.) :D

SF3 screwed himself by making himself tradeable in the eyes of JVG.

Hey Rhester, good to see you around. This should be the most interesting Rocket's season in years. Without significant injuries, this team has serious talent and should make some noise in the West. I knew going in last year, it was TMac and Yao against the world. Finally, some decent help.

What's f'd up is people assuming too much or reading too much into this. Yao is the first option and then everyone else. SF knows his role.
