I see that Crittenton got cut too so I don't know... this probably has to do with inability to pay the contract or something. Maybe they just brought the guys over for some quick buzz? I don't care how bad Francis is, he isn't as bad as the guards out there in China. It isn't a talent thing, maybe an attitude or accountability thing?
Why was this thread moved? It's obvious SF3 asked to be released so he could come back to the Rockets!! This will be the third time number 3 comes back!!! SF3 comes back, we win our third championship on his third run with Houston! AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THIS MAGIC?!?!?!?!!?
If you had a sense of humor you might realize that he is directly addressing the content of the post.
The reason given for Crittenttenttenttenden's release is that although he can score, he isn't passing the ball well enough or shooting well enough from long range to space the floor. The whole talent scouting/evaluation operations in China seems a little behind the times.
Actually I would say the rules change "opened up" the court for small and weak b-ball players like Nash, Cp3, Brooks etc. The lack of a hand-checking rule meant that only strong iso-players could function as pgs, this meant guys like AI, Francis and Marbury could chuck up games all day long because, hey, teams can't find anybody better. OTH I feel bad for guys like Mighty Mouse (forgot his name) and Earl Boykins. If they were able to play in the league during the hancheck era they might have exploded in today's league.
He is either on drugs or in some serious illness cos an aging athletes will only gain weight and not loss weight. Steve is so skinny right now, he has some serious problems!
I feel sorry for Francis because this would have never happened on the Shanghai Sharks. He just got unlucky and went to Beijing. Yao should have hooked him up.
Geez Guys, do i have to say it again!! THis guy is as washed up as sand is on the beach!! HIS BBALL days are over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know about that. He was a decent shooter, but his entire game relied on using this athleticism to blow past the defender and rise up for the throw down. If he can't get free, he usually already dribbles out the clock and is forced to either shoot it or give it up to someone else for a shot. He was never even a remotely decent playmaker either and his court vision was mediocre at best. You see how slow Brandon Roy is after losing his knees. SF3 seems even slower and less explosive in the clips I saw of him. If he wants to rise again, he needs to go the Grant Hill route and work on his techniques and remaining strength. Unfortunately, it may be too late for SF3 at this point in time.
i was referring to the introduction of zone defenses. the change in the handcheck rules came after he had already declined beyond the point of being an nba caliber player. the zone effectively killed his iso opportunities in the initial years.
I feel bad for his family. From the pictures I have seen, it seemed like he had moved his entire family over there for this career change.
Stevie use to have my undying support, but not any more. Hard to defend him the way he's fallen off. Seems like his partying and lack of dedication has caught up with him. I hope he gets his life back on track and spends good quality time with his family.
Marbury, overall had a better career than Steve. In New York, they still started Marbury and Steve went to the the bench.
Steve Francis' stats in the Chinese Basketball Association: http://www.asia-basket.com/player.asp?Cntry=CHN&PlayerID=10272 3.7 Minutes Per Game 0.7 Points Per Game 1.3 Turnovers Per Game
these chinese coaches are retraded why do you sign him to a big contract and play him 3 minutes a game that league is a joke anyways
