He was mine too when Hakeem and sir Charles left the game. Although he is on another team I am going to support him as a fan. BUT, I don't know if he will be my favorite player anymore, since I am a hometown fan. If TMAC resigns with the Rockets he no doubt will be my favorite player. Yao is up around the top right now, and will remain if he shows us more domination next season. -
Except for the fact that T-Mac has been in the league longer, is younger, can put up 30/6/6, and hasn't had the chance to play with a damn good big man yet. Francis had a big man and couldn't adjust. He's definitely not a Michael Jordan, hell, not even a Stephon Marbury according to most people, so he'll never win it without a big man. Francis will never ever be a main part of a ring. He might win it signing for the minimum for some contending team towrds the end of his career, or being the PG for another dominant duo... But you get the picture. Francis can't carry a team without a big man, and he can't adjust to a big man. It's over for him. __________________ It's not over Orlando will be strong in the East. And as far as playing with a big man, lets be honest Yao was not ready last year to win a chapionship regardless to having steve or t-mac. He doesn't hold a candle to Tim duncan, KG, or Shaq. T-mac is good but if your hyping him and talking **** about Steve, look at it this way Steve was the leader of a western confrence playoff team, T-mac was the leader of the worst team in the NBA and a horrible leader for them at that. I admire how steve played through migraine headaches. Do you admire how T- Mac sits games out with not-existing injuries. He is a great scorer but he's a soft pre-madona just like his cousin Vince. They could of had a great duo, similar to Jordan Pippen, but they were both soft and neither wanted to be Pippen. If Yao rises to one of the most dominant player in the league T-Mac will not like him taking any shine away from him. And if he doesn't dominate T-Mac will point the finger like he did in Orlando. eventually he will run out of fingers to point, if he even knows how many fingers he has.
No matter what anyone says I'm going to be an Orlando fan next season. It's going to be exciting watching SF tear it up in the eastern conference. When SF comes back to Houston I'll be wearing a T-Mac jersey and the SF hat that my girl friend bought for me during the playoffs last season, and when his name is announced I'll be the loudest fan cheering him on. That being said, I wish Steve Francis the best and I hope he is granted the success which has eluded him here in Houston.
It's hard to understand idiots. By the way, it's a class move by Francis. I really hope he will do well in Orlando. Francis is always a Rocket in my mind.
i believe that this move has nothing to do with what he did on the court. sure stevie did some pretty horrible things on the court (poor shooting, lots of turnovers, etc) but you cant deny that he gave it his all. he is helping the city of houston with all of this scholarship and charity events. he can take all of this and bring it elsewhere but he loves houston and EVERYONE knows that. he is still helping out the ppl of this city and that is an honorable thing to do. i hated steve's way of playing the game of ball, but i love how he tried his best. i love tmac and cant wait to see him play...so best wishes to stevie not as a former rockets player, but as a person trying to help out the city he loves.
i felt the same way stevie is my favoite player ,but I hate to see a dude get pounded time after time like steve did on this board and by the people on the radio.so iam glad to see him get a new start. so when we don't make the playoffs next year who are most people gonna point the fingure at this time?
Well it's a pretty sharp contrast with what T-Mac did. One can only hope T-Mac behaves better on the court.
Well, Rocket's management and it's comments of Steve are a 'pretty sharp contrast' with what Orlando's management and what it did to T-mac. One can only hope they behave better here on out.
Yeah, you're right. 30/6/5.... What was I thinking? Ofcourse it matters. If he could adjust, we would have been a better team last year. What do you mean it doesn't matter? It doesn't matter who it is, if they have trouble adjusting for an entire season I'm going to be pissed.. The team was winning, but they weren't playing up to their potential. I think we could've taken that Laker team to at least one more game, and we could've gone up a seed during the season. Big difference. Stephon Marbury has made the playoffs countless times already. Is it just me or did the Suns finish AHEAD of us during Yao's first season? Yes, that team led by Marbury. Don't tell me they were more talented either, we beat them head to head. We won 45 because Hakeem and MoT stepped it up big time. It wasn't because of him.
We've done this before. I hammered down this argument in the past. I put up a poll on ANOTHER message board (unbiased opinion) and Marbury had 64% of the votes. Marbury has been to the playoffs more than Steve. It's not age, they're one day apart. He has more experience, and he's more capable of carrying a team, like he did when we were battling the Suns for a playoff spot 2 years ago. I don't hate Steve. However, he DOES have major holes in his game, and sometimes people make him out to be somethign he's not.. a 1st-tier talent. Unless Francis is moved to SG and adjusts brilliantly, he will never be a top tier talent. He has not improved his game since the day he came into the league. The only thing that changed in him is that JVG made him more disciplined, and obviously he wasn't well-suited to that kind of thing, so now he's better off somewhere else. I have no doubt in my mind Steve will average great numbers in Orlando, where they need him to take the shots and be the man for now. He may even put up a 23/6/6 season, but he won't be better than Marbury because Marbury has more experience, more playoff games, and better passing to show. Steve tries to pass it well and can't.. Marbury, who is apparently shoot-first, averages around 8 or 9 assists. Thanks Steve for your time. It's not your fault, they doomed you with their expectations. You're not a 12M dollar player, what can you do?
Countless times? Since the trade from Minnesota which was at his request, so he could be "the man" , that would be all of twice -- with blistering 40 win seasons in NY and Phoenix. I know, it was Stephon's massive leadership that led them to win 44 games in 2003, while the Rockets won a mere 43; it's a testament to the wide gulf between the two men. Oh yes, he is also 0-6 vs. Francis dating back to 2003. Yes, Marbury is truly a cut above, he's done nothing but win since he came into the NBA and is really just in a whole different class as a player.
HAHAHAHA, you know damn well that the Suns dropped the last 3 games of that season. Marbury made the playoffs 3 times while Francis has made it once. I could care less how players fare against each other as long as my team in winning more games. Marbury has achieved more, has more experience, has been able to carry a team, and puts up better stats at the same time. They're Point Guards. Marbury has never put up less than 7.6 assists, while I believe Steve's best season was around 6.6? Marbury's has never put up more than 3.7 TO's, Steve's career AVERAGE. In fact, Steve has only been below 3.7 once in his career. If that's how it is when Steve is TRYING to pass while Marbury is SELFISH and trying NOT to pass, then I have to wonder... How talented is Marbury if he can put up 9 assists while being selfish? Marbury, over his career, actually scores more on the same percentage as well. It's not a significant difference, but Marbury is, IMO, the better scorer. How many times has he put up huge scoring games? How often does Francis do it? Francis is a better rebounder. I don't think he's a betetr defender but an argument could be made. That's about it.
I would rather have Francis as well, but only because he's an ex-Rocket, and because Marbury wasa bitter rival. Marbury really won my respect when Phoenix took that playoff spot from us riding on his back two years ago.
I beg to differ..... I don't care if this is the wrong forum to discuss an ex-Rocket vs. Marbury. First off, your point about Marbury being so supremely more experienced and better because he's been on more playoff teams is really overrated. If you consider the number of playoff appearances a player has been in as a measure to judge a player, then that's fine---Marbury is the better player. However, Francis has been on more winning teams. Marbury has been in the league for 8 years, only 2 of those teams were above .500 ball clubs. Whereas Francis has been in the league for 5 years and has been on 3 winning teams. Also, even if playoff apperances were the determining factor, it's not like Marbury has ever led a team out of the 1st round. So I fail to see how Marbury is so much more capable of carrying a team than Francis?? As for being a top tier talent..... His numbers are obviously going to increase in the weaker conference and with a coach who will grant him freedom similar to what Rudy T. granted him. I believe that Orlando will be the most improved team in the league after next season is over---if that's the case, Francis will earn plenty of credit for leading the team to that status. Prediction: Francis will start in the All-Star game again and earn 2nd team All-NBA.
The other thing about that is that people say Francis didn't want to share the spot light with Yao, and then turn around and defend the guy who asked his way off a team with arguably the game's best player.
