WTF is wrong with you people? We dont need steve, he brings no value to this team. In fact he probally reduces the value of every player on this team. Im gonna say this once and everyone better listen............. STEVE FRANCIS IS A TEAM CANCER!!!!!!!!!
I don't quite understand what you're getting at. You should increase the font size and add a few more exclamation marks. I'm not sure 9 is quite enough.
I really don't believe that the Mavericks want him - it's just a smoke screen of sorts. This is too funny. First the guy is literally run out of town amid much cheering and celebration and now folks desperately want him back (at a discount of course). Just what they need: another guard in the Mike James mold. Unless he's grown 6 inches since he was last here and can now play the 4, this thread is somewhat pointless. But hope springs eternal...
Francis is not the team cancer..sheesh. Did all you folks call him a team cancer when he was an All-Star? He'll give you over 20 pts 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Even JVG said that you have to give up someone good to get someone good. The only thing now is that Stevie's b-ball skills have diminished so he's only worth the MLE or the LLE. In the right situation, Stevie Franchise will still bring exceptionally good value. Maybe he starts maybe he doesn't but at worst, he plays the sixth man who comes in and energizes the team. Sorta like Ginobelli or Barbosa.
By the way, I don't think that Stevie's skills have diminished much. It's just a perception. If he passes the physical and he can still run and jump, he's good to go.
I just cannot see MJ & SF egos working together on the same team. Just believe they cannot play together without conflict. I also remember SF dribbling the clock away then putting up a very bad shot or a pass that is to late for the receiver to shoot. Maybe that is a thing of the pass but hard to forget!
He can create his own shot and besides he built Toyota Center. Trade Head/Sure for Camby. Offer part of MLE for Amir Johnson Remainder sign Lindsey Hunter
I voted no. No for the MLE. If it's for the LLE or veterans minimum, then my vote is yes. And yeah, I expect him to go to the Clippers too. Starting role and his buddies Mobley and Cassell on the team? That's too much to resist if everything else is equal.
If we sign Francis to a two or three year deal here's what we get: to laugh at Orlando for the trade that screwed them an explosive player off the bench an exciting team to watch here's the thing, when LA signed Gary Payton and Karl Malone everyone and their mother knew that wouldn't have that tremendous of an impact on the team, but! management knew that it would boost the unbeatable image of LA. Houston, by having SF3 in waiting, Yao and Master T would seem deeper then they are. Image is as important as skill. Look at Duke, in the college game, Duke could be a 10 seed in the NCAA tourney, teams still fear them, because Duke has an aura of winningness. BRING BACK THE FRANCIS!
Dude just because you put up stats on bad teams does not make you a good player. He was an allstar because he was flashy and played for a big market and that's what the FANS look for when they vote. The same reason why tmac and kobe get picked over nash every year. Steve francis absolutely crippled this team after we got him and we were only able to go to the playoffs ONCE in his entire tenure here. He is not the type of player who can function in a team game, more 1 on 1 isolations which dont really exist anymore because the league lets you play zone. Steve should have made his this group of teammates better, he played with the same people practically for 4 years, and yet couldnt develop chemistry with anyone of them except for cuttino mobley. Steve didnt have the ability to step up his game and make his teams win. If he was an allstar, he would be an allstar on every team he played on. not just the rockets who had a system that let him do whatever he wanted. Steve didnt care about making yao better, he didnt care about making dwight better, he didnt care about making the knicks better, he only cares about steve francis. The only reason that he wants to come back to houston is cuz this is the only city who blindly worshiped him and didnt see how much of a cancer he was.

Mabye we should get Francis, and trade James and Alston for a better PF...
Guys I guarantee you that wherever he goes it will be for the LLE. His buyout was for about $3M less than his total salary would've been over the last two years. $3M/2 = $1.5M, which is about the LLE. That means if he gets the LLE for 2 years he is still making max salary. That is why the previous article said the buyout allows him to look for the right fit as opposed to money. I mean who else are we gonna spend the LLE on? Almost any big is going to cost more given the market this year and SF is probably the best small on the market. However, we are getting dangerously close to the luxury tax. Les has always claimed he would pay the luxury tax for the right player. Is Francis that player?
I wouldnt be uset if we brought back our old franchise player, although he would have to accept a lesser role. Dont hate
I guess you're forgetting when he got in Amare's face for knocking down Yao. You're skipping the fact that he averages 6 assist per game, which isn't great for a PG but for a shooting, high scoring PG, it certainly isn't bad. Didn't step up? Did you even watch the 03-04 playoffs? Francis was the only one that stepped up on our team. He definitely has the heart to pick it up in the playoffs, which was clearly lacking in this year's post season. While he was with us, Francis joined Oscar Robertson, Grant Hill, and Magic Johnson as the only players to average 15, 5, and 5 in their first five season. There are alot of players on crappy teams that put up good numbers, but not many put up those numbers. Saying that he's an all-star just because he was on a crappy team in a big market is just being stupid. Saying he should always be on the all-star team, just because he made it in Houston is equally stupid. Rashard Lewis is considered all-star material with just one all-star apperance. Why? Because he has the talent to be an all-star. So does Francis. There's not many people blindly worshipping him, the problem is people like you blindly hating him for three crappy years (which wasn't too different from our past three years). If you want to complain about him not being a good fit with MJ, locker issues with T-Mac, not fitting in the new offesne, that's fine, but when you start spouting crap, you're only killing your own credibility.
