Even with his decline in skills due to wear and tear, his low BB IQ, his dribble mania, etc. warts and all, Francis would instantly be the 3rd best player on this team.
I voted yes for the min., but with our backlog of PG's, and not sure if SF has matured, it probably won't happen...He sure is rich for not doing a damn thing...
Report: Francis a free agent http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7011740 The Knicks scored big in landing Zach Randolph from Portland, but Steve Francis may have been the biggest winner in the deal. The Trail Blazers have agreed to buy out the last two years of Francis' contract, according to a report Tuesday on the Newsday Web site. The former Knicks guard will get $30 million of the $33.6 million on his deal. The completed deal means Francis will hit the waiver wire Wednesday morning. A team could claim him, but Francis will most likely become an unrestricted free agent in seven days. "This was the definition of a win-win situation with Isiah and the Knicks getting Zach Randolph and Steve being the ultimate beneficiary in being bought out," Francis' agent, Jeff Fried, told Newsday. The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers are among the teams rumored to be interested in Francis. Francis had a disappointing season for the Knicks in 2006-07, averaging a career-low 11.3 points per game. lets see if he can get himself a job in Houston the same way he built Toyota Center
With V-Span and JL3 possible gone, I don't think it would hurt to get another guard, especially with the skills on Steve Francis. I'm still positive he can ressurect his career ala Baron Davis if he's given the chance. Although there is a slim chance we would sign him, it would be a dream to see Francis, T-Mac and Yao all on the same court together.
http://msn.foxsports.com/rumors/nba#1 Guard Steve Francis received his wish when his new team, the Portland Trail Blazers, bought out the final two years of his contract. The deal, in the works for weeks, was completed yesterday and Francis hit the waiver wire at 12:01 a.m. today. ... The Heat, Clippers and Mavericks are the most likely landing spots for Francis.
I'd take him for a minumum deal, no more. We need to use the mid-level on a PF (if that's even possible with this weak free agent marker) I'm sure he wants to go play with his boyfriend Cuttino
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2932433 According to the Post, Fried said that the buyout allows his client to find the "right fit as opposed to the most money. He doesn't need much to be made whole."
we aren't going to bring back francis. we already have mike james whos a better version of him at this stage in their careers. francis also isnt an adelman player. if isaih benched him for Mardy Collins, what makes u think adelman will play francis at all?
actually houston is probably his #1 destination with the clippers being his #2 destination. i really dont want him because i dont think he'd fit our team and im pretty sure morey and adelman think the same.
JVG would say..... "I think we have the market cornered on 6'2" and under combo guards" but you know want he is not here anymore....sign the franchisee
please lord in heaven make it happen: francis in houston with a more mature mindset and a refocused thirst for a championship. yao with a chance for a re-do on an MVP run waco's tmac adelman's bonzi htown's mike james htown homeowner / yao's very good friend stevie francis no more of this 60pts with half the 4th quarter left in a playoff game. thats not a defensive grind game. thats an utter absence of the parts necessary to put the ball in the bucket. let's score in 07-08
I don't think he's a good fit. The Rockets want to run and no one is worse on the fast break than Francis. How many open, uncontested lay ups did this guy miss? How many turnovers on the break did he have? It seems like a lot. If he's willing to take the minimum AND a deal is place to trade Rafer, JL3, &/or Head for a PF. Otherwise...PASS
