Though the Rockets are limited to giving Francis $2.3 million for the first season — the money left on their mid-level exception after the signing of forward Luis Scola — Fried said the relatively small offer would not limit the team's chances with the 30-year-old guard.

Hell, I thought we had a lot less left of the MLE. We should over Barnes a starting salary of $2.3 million, and see if he bites! Francis can come for the LLE or not at all.

I think having him around is alright if we bring off the bench with Bonzi.

Do you really think a 3 time all star should be benched?
Alston is the former d-leaguer who can't shoot..
well steve francis can't either.. but he can put up numbers.. and was a start guard in the all star game 2 years in a row i think.. correct me if im wrong
but maybe he can learn how to shoot?

Francis doesn't play in a free flowing offense. He needs the ball to be effective. When we already have T-mac/Yao dominating the ball in the starting line up, it diminishes the effect of Francis. Remember, Francis WAS a 3 time all star. If that was the case, Gary Payton should of been starting for the Heat despite his age, since his accomplishments put Francis's resume to shame.

Its about the need of the team, and Francis does the team the most good on the bench. Plus when you are playing with T-mac and Yao, you need 3pt shooters, MJ is a much better shooter than Francis if you think about it...

    Interesting quote from Feigen's blog:

    http://www.miamiherald.com/594/story/175174.html
Francis' agent, Jeff Fried, said Wednesday night that his client has narrowed his list of suitors to two, one of which is the Heat.

So which team is still in the race with the Heat?

(He told me four teams, including the Rockets. I would think the Rockets can be no worse than second. -- Jonathan)

Why reveal one team and not the other? Bizarre... or is he just being a jerk and keeping us all in suspense.

I voted yes, but I doubt it happens. If Francis did come back, the Toyota Center will be going crazy. This guy is still good, and wouldn't be too bad coming off the bench as a sixth man. I would try and get rid of Alston if I bring in Francis though. I don't think there is enough room for James, Francis, AND Alston on one team. We can get something good for Alston though, especially on a team that needs a point guard.

Just got done talking to my co-worker... she is dating Monta Ellis right now and is cousins with Nate Peak of PMG, according to her, Francis and agent Jeff Fried decided last night he was going to play for Houston and will announce tonight.

She just got off the phone with Francis. I bugged out when she told me they are buddies. Francis says he just loves Houston and wouldnt go anywhere else if it were his choice... finally he has his choice and this is where he wants to be.
