Sincerely, Kenny Smith and Sam Cassell, NBA Champion Houston Rockets, 1994, 1995 Ron Harper and Steve Kerr, NBA Champion Chicago Bulls- 1996, 1997, 1998 Avery Johnson, NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, 1999 Jason Williams, NBA Champion Miami Heat, 2006
Franchise is washed up and a malcontent to boot. He has decent career numbers, was fun to watch in H-town, but he's selfish, is a sieve on D and probably is a locker room cancer. But that said, would the MLE be worth it to gamble on him possibly bouncing back to the form he showed as a Rocket? Yes.
A PG tandem of Mike James and Steve Francis? Numbers that would go up: 1. Turnovers 2. Stupid shots with 1 on the shot clock 3. Rockets PG scoring average 4. Opponents PG scoring average Numbers that would drop like rocks: 1. T-Mac and Yao's, ppg 2. T-Mac and Yao', FGA 3. Rockets wins Stay away from Francis. He is super talented. He is also the wrong guy for this team, and he is damaged goods. Not a big Rafer fan, but I would rather see him running the point than Steve kill da Franchise.
Could this be a hint??? Morey: "We're not done with the roster yet, but there's going to be some adjustment. We've got a new coach, a new offense and a new defense. The key is to be where we want to be for the playoffs." He seems likely to add a veteran backup point guard and center, but the heavy lifting is done. Columnist Richard Justice on Rockets
Well Sanjaylucknow once correctly predicted the Glen Rice for a trade exception trade, so I hope he will be right again this time.
Francis is exactly what this team needed...5 years ago! When Houston was a struggling franchise with minimal star power SF3 was a blessing for a few years as the team needed to sell tickets, now with t-mac & yao we need solid role players to compliment them (which we're doing nicely nice this off-season) instead of some 30-year old overrarted has-been who was impressive in his few years here but would no longer benefit the team, especially with our backcourt loaded as it is! ....long post lol
You think Francis is stupid? If he's got other scorer's on the team you can bet he'll be dishing the ball off. By the way, last time I checked 6 assists for an NBA guard is among the leaders in the NBA.
Francis (like Marbury) is not selfish in terms of shooting a lot... he just dribbles way too much before shooting or passing... this burns the shot clock, kills movement, offensive rebounding opportunities and makes it easier for opponents to get fastbreaks after getting the defensive rebound... With guards like that, their stats are usually good in terms of pts and assts as they hold the ball for either a shot or assist but other players don't have the chance to make plays, except catch and shoot
Catch and shoot off ball movement creates better rhythm for the offense, allows for 2nd/3rd passes, and rebounding opportunities rather than Francis passing the ball with 2 seconds left on the clock - receiver is forced to shoot, whether it's a good shot or not.....
He didn't play that much last season, saw some of his games with NY, seems like they were trying to get him going by giving him his turns... He might have played better in the games I didn't see... how much has he changed from his HOU/ORL days?
so tonite, we find out if Steve Francis is going to be a Rocket all over again. Some ppl are gonna start masturbating to his posters all over again, and some are going to be pissed. We'll find out. LINK
