What can we do now? Just dump JL3 and get Francis? Woudln't that be sweet lol. Maybe we can keep Rafer.
Bonzi Wells isnt a cancer. we played well with him on the court and off the court, and some say we couldve beaten the Jazz with him. francis destroys the team on the court and off the court. when hes on the court, hes causing turnovers and not making right passes. off the court hes complaining about his lack of playing time. morey and adelman dont want that cancer.
Yeah he's such a cancer that the Clippers, Lakers, Mavs, and Heat want him on their roster. Good point...totally worthless B-Ball player that Steve Francis.
I like Francis, but he's not going to get the role he wants here. I just don't think it would be a good situation. And really, does anyone think Morey is going to bring Francis here? I'm not that familiar with "Morey-ball" other than the overall concept, but Stevie definitely wouldn't make sense when it comes to that.
Than whats Tmac? Steve is the only reason we were mediocre when we were playing freaking Mo Taylor,Cato, Jim Jackson, and Moochie Norris. Not to mention Yao is light years better than he was.He was great in orlando until they traded Mobley for Doug Christie(who promptly retired.)And New York was a horrible organization before he got there. I remember us putting up a great fight against the incredibly talented Laker team in the playoffs that would have swept the Jazz this year. Ill trade four turnovers for career averages of 18-6-6, the only player to do this in 3 categories since Magic,Oscar, and Hill. Whats wrong with complaining about lack of playing time when your team is sucking. If you have a team as bad as the knicks and you have proven that you can play at an allstar level.....you should complain. A p***y would sit on the bench and do nothing about it....
did you know the Knicks were .300 with Francis in the lineup and .500 with Francis not playing at all? just thought that was interesting.
Actually I did know that, but considering he played like 40 games and was playing at the shooting guard spot, while playing with notoriously greedy, shot jackers(Eddy Curry,Starbury,Crawford,Quentin, and others) I sort of think that excuses itself. He didnt fit in, but I don't think someone like Baron Davis would fit in either, although he played great in the playoffs in a better system for himself. If baron can be successful, Steve sure as hell can. If you want a real stat why don't you look up how many games we won(or didnt win) when Steve was out with Migrane headaches on the rox.
All you're doing is making inane playa hata comments. Francis in or out with the Knicks does not automatically translate into wins or losses. Francis got time to play when almost everyone on the Knicks was out with injuries so he played on a severely depleted team. Hence the losses. That's not to say that the Knicks were terrible already...they were. You put Francis at the guard slot on a team with some talent, and he'll shine. Plus Isiah Thomas's experiment with Starbury and Franchise in the same backcourt was a disaster. Both of them are the same kind of dominate the ball, slasher type players. Everyone in the league knew it but Isiah was stubborn and the Francis signing was more about egos between Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas anyways. Why not look at Francis's stats when he was starting and actually getting some minutes. If you look at the below link, you'll see that he still lights it up if he gets significant playing time. BTW, he would be a p***y if he didn't complain about playing time knowing that he can still put up numbers like this. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/steve_francis/game_by_game_stats.html
It really is this simple, Daryl Morey needed to upgrade all 3 rotation spots at the point guard position this summer if the Rockets wanted any chance of winning a championship. 2006-2007 point guard rotation: Rafer Alston Luther Head John Lucas III Rafer Alston good enough starter to win a title? No Luther Head good enough backup to win a title? No John Lucas III good enough third string to win a title? No = First round exit. Current point guard rotation: Mike James Rafer Alston Aaron Brooks Mike James > Rafer Alston? Check. Rafer Alston > Luther Head? Debatable. Aaron Brooks > John Lucas III? Check. Mike James good enough starter to win a title? No. Rafer Alston good enough backup to win a title? No. Aaron Brooks good enough third string to win a title? Yes. = Second round exit most likely. 2007-2008 championship point guard rotation: Steve Francis Mike James Aaron Brooks Steve Francis > Rafer Alston? Check. Mike James > Luther Head? Check. Aaron Brooks > John Lucas III? Check. Steve Francis good enough starter to win a title? Yes. Mike James good enough backup to win a title? Yes. Aaron Brooks good enough third string to win a title? Yes. = Combined with adding Luis Scola, most likely a championship season, providing no major injuries come playoff time. I believe signing Luis Scola for part of the MLE and Steve Francis for the LLE would push the Houston Rockets team over the top. Rafer Alston can be thrown in with John Lucas III, Justin Reed, and Bobby Sura as players to be dumped in a trade.
He really upgraded the PF position as well Scola > Hayes Hayes > Landry All three players are capable at the PF position.
You seem like a "stat guy", check this out Baron Davis career stats 16pts 7ast 4reb on 41% shooting/32% from 3/68%FTs 2.8 T/O Steve Francis career stats 18pts 6ast 6reb on 43% shooting/34% from 3/80%FTs 3.5 T/O In the playoffs Francis averaged 20,8,8 Both with one year of playoff Exp. Baron averaged 25,7,4 very impressive btw Francis is very near the player Baron Davis is.....
Does anyone have any updates on this? From what I understand there is no official deal with the Clips. I've checked multiple sources for anything new and this is all I found: http://www.clipsnation.com/story/2007/7/12/201910/879 I'm going to stop speculating on the contract that Steve Francis is going to sign. It's all conjecture on my part, and clearly I have no idea. I assumed he'd be able and interested in getting the mid-level (the same figure Art Thompson III speculated on in today's OCR), but then his agent spoke of being 'made whole' after the Portland buyout, a figure that would be much lower. So who knows? Instead let's just do a quick link dump. The Lakers are going to sign Derek Fisher. Like Francis, the deal can't be official until Fish clears waivers, but it's going to happen, and it removes the Lakers from the pursuit of Francis. Today's Palm Beach Post says the Heat are NOT interested in Francis, although they continue to be one of the teams mentioned. Take it for what it's worth. The Heat continue to pursue Mo Williams as their top priority. Today's Houston Chronicle is reporting that that Francis is interested in the Rockets. What it doesn't report is that the Rockets are interested in Francis. All the talk at this point is coming from Francis' agent, Jeff Fried. Beyond the obvious connections (Francis was an all-star with the Rockets, Yao reportedly likes playing with him, Francis has a house there) this idea makes no sense. The Rockets still have last year's starter Rafer Alston, and recently acquired Mike James for a second tour in Houston, and spent their first round draft pick on point guard Aaron Brooks. As it happens, the Rockets traded James for Alston two years ago, and then brought back James. So to bring back Francis to play alongside the guy the got for him (McGrady) would fit the theme. But exactly how many shoot first point guards is too many? Houston can't even consider this unless they get rid of Alston or James or both.
I would take this "article" with a grain of salt. This is a blog and I think most of this is the posters point of view. Even if he has the facts or credentials to back up what he wrote, I highly doubt it that sf3 and james would play at the same time. I think they would be subbed with each other so basically, nothings lost in the pg position when it comes to slashing and scoring. Dump alston for a pick or even a bag of chips via trade, or combine alston, snyder, head, jliii, and sura's contract (if he doesn't retire) for anything would help. Francis/James/Brooks McGrady/Wells/Snyder or Head Battier/Novak/Alston trade? Scola/Hayes/Landry Yao/Mutombo/Tsakalidis Imo, this lineup would really give the west something to worry about. Its deep and even without the starters on the floor, james and wells can pick up the scoring slack and hoping novak would pan out the way we want him to be. And assuming scola would sign and wear a rockets uni next year.
If Rockets signs Francis, I wonder if Mike James may be again on the trading block? James command 5 mil, if we can get Stevie on the cheap, why we need James?
what is this boards fascinatin with francis??????? He has done abosloutely nothing the last couple years. He done for jeez. People where campainigng for him to leave and now they want him back Do yall forgot the TO, bricked shots, crap defense????
I have to disagree on both counts. I think all Francis cares about is getting whatever legacy he has back. It's a perfect situation for him, he never wanted to leave Houston in the first place, he loved playing with Yao, he did whatever Gundy asked off him in that last season and they reached the first round. Without the pressure of having to do it all, T-Mac, Yao, hell even Bonzi and MJ, I think he would thrive. If Francis is on the bench the second unit of, Francis, Bonzi, Battier, Hayes, Deke is not bad at all. You get your scoring from Francis and Bonzi and the defense and rebounding from the other positions. Morey-Ball is all about making the most out of every dollar and collecting the right pieces. Highlighted perfectly by the V-Span trade. In terms of talent per dollar and just value in a contract, you can't beat Francis for the LLE. That's exactly what money ball prescribes.
