You gotta think that he may want a chance to get back on good standing with his career. Houston was the only place he really thrived and the people he disagreed with are all gone. He already has the money so maybe we can get him cheap. Plus no matter his downfalls, he always had an awesome will to win. This team can definitely use that heart. All we need to do then is take some of the other guards and trade for a PF. Do not trade Shane however!
Why can't you see this happening? The only way we are going to get that PF is to do a sign and trade and give up some of those guards. We have way to many. So if we give up these guards, that will open up roster space for Francis. Simple!
JVG and Isiah were the wrong coaches for Stevie. He was ok in Orlando when Davis was there but then they switched to disciplinarian do it my way or the high way Brian Hill. Francis just doens't do well with those type of rigid personalities. I do think he'll be ok with the Clippers but Dunleavy leaves much to be desired as a coach. I think Francis would do a lot better with Adelman.
I also like SF to be in Rockets. The question is do you want to pay him MLE rather than veteran's minimum?
Nearly impossible. Shane -must- be included if we're talking about a quality PF, all-star or not. Getting Alston, Head, crap would not justify a trade for one of your rare bigs. It's tough. I like Shane too. I think a lot of the frustration thus far this offseason from the fans is because the Rockets have done zilch in free agency. While we know Morey said he wouldn't pursue that route..intelligent fans know that means Shane bears a good possiblity of being traded to achieve the goal of obtaining a PF fans will be content with. If we had gotten a PF through free agency, it would eliminate the need to send Shane packing.
I can't believe any Rockets fan wouldn't want Stevie back in Houston.... He loved the city and thrived here.... He was young and inexperienced but showed that he was an All Star calibre player..I still remember he had a great all star game in 2003 with like 20 and 9 assists or something like that, but KG just dominated and got the MVP.... Hes still not old at all either, only 30... and God forbid anything happen to T-Mac, Stevie would be able to hold the ship afloat presuming Yao and Shane are healthy....IF we add Francis I can see us definatly getting out of the 1st and possibly being NBA Champs... Yao will only get better, and depth is an asset. Just look at the Mavs. Anyway hell thrive in Adelmans offense.
If Steve gets 1 mil this year and 5 mil next- we should have been in the running for that level of money. We have all these mediocre guards (Spanoulis & JLIII)under contract-Steve could have helped us.
You missed my point: I can't see Morey looking to get Francis right now because I think he's actually trying to make that trade for a PF. Adding yet another guard does not appear to be high on his list of priorities right now because it further imbalances the roster (to use his own words). Whether or not getting SF3 is a good or bad move I don't know. To be honest, I am very indifferent to the whole idea that he'll make that much of a difference here again. I just find it extremely laughable that there is so much Stevie Franchise Love going on now because I recall a much different scenario around here 4 years ago.
wow. The Bonzi-is-going-to-be-good-because-Adelman-is-here lovefest is getting sick. A coach's arrival cannot miraculously drop 20 pounds off of Wells.
If SF3 signs for the right price, the rockets should only trade the following to get PF: Rafer, Lucas, Luther, Sura, Synder. Battier should not be traded period.
You are wrong. A lot of people here were pissed off 4 years ago that we traded Francis away but were resigned it since we were bringing in T-Mac. You have to give up something good to get something good was what everyone was saying. So if we get him back for not having to give up much would be like having Christmas and Easter rolled up into one.
you are really underestimating the effect Adelman will have on Wells, who had his best year playing under him.
people saying Yes to Francis have really no idea how much of a cancer he is. Morey and Adelman wouldve signed him or even hinted at getting Francis by now if they wanted him, which they thankfully and intelligently don't.
Lets put it this way: If a player has to have a SPECIFIC coach in order for him to actually GET ON THE COURT AT ALL, then he is a waste of talent and space. He's a grown man that should have been smart and played to try and get more money. But nope, he decided to go obese and be a cancer. Wait... Yea, if Francis is a cancer than Bonzi Wells is.....?
