This wouldn't be a problem if players would just MAKE THEIR ____ING FREE THROWS.

AGREE!!!! David Stern keep saying he's doing it for the fans and all this crap about the fans but its all a front. David Stern is full of crap and he has always been shady. The NBA has lost a lot of its fans because of David Stern and the impact he's done to the league.

The only thing I'm really afraid of is that before Stern retires, he will drop a few more outrageous things that will impact the NBA. This kind of crap pisses me off because he is rewarding a player for being too lazy to work on his god damn FTs. Howard is lazy and doesn't give a crap about improving his game and he's being rewarded for it.

Pathetic on Stern and Howard altogether. I always wished the Feds would do an investigation on Stern for once. I don't care what happens but I just hope he has to pay for his wrong-doing. I hope an official just step up and let out the truth about Stern and not be afraid of him.

    David Stern's thought process.

    1. Hack a Howard for his entire career at Orlando. Who cares?
    2. A bunch of teams each year tanking and giving up the season. Whatever.
    3. Players running into defenders purposely rather than putting up a shot to draw FTs. Superstar!
    4. Yao and other big men getting clawed and scratched and fouled until bloody without foul called. Have we made sure perimeter players aren't getting breathed on?

    5. Hack a Howard now wearing a Laker uniform. OH NOES!! We gotta change the rules!!!

Next thing you know, he'll want to end post defense because players don't know how to play in the post anymore.

Stern is trying so hard to make it so that the Kobe and Lebron finally square off in the finals.

If they outlaw hack-a-ho because it makes the game ugly, then they should also outlaw intentional fouling to stop the clock.

Fouling a player off the ball is NOT basketball. How anyone can defend this as a legitimate strategy is beyond me. No one wants to watch that garbage.

The thing with the intentional fouling at the end of the game is that they actually have to foul the player WITH THE BALL.

make a closer FT line for Howard, 3 feet away from the basket, that should do it ... please stop changing rules because of players weaknesses ...
if a player cant shoot the 3 and his defender stay away from him daring him to shoot, he should be penalized too ? or maybe we should change the rule and force defenders to stay within a feet of the players they guard ... many rules are made to make it easier to score (defensive 3s, the circle below the rim...) but it does not make bb a better product, Stern is a businessman, not a bb lover, he does not have any clue of what make the game enjoyable

i'm not at all for a rule change but if it has to happen, an idea would be to allow subsitutions like they do in handball, sub a player without having the clock stopped, so they could let howard in in defense, and take him out in offense, without stopping the game, every team will have an interest in this and the coaching would be much more interesting.
